Just wanted to give this a bump in case anyone wanted to listen to this as their day winds down or for their commute. I'll be online all afternoon and evening if anyone wants any questions, comments, or criticisms answered.

First: I think EVERYONE is eating crow on BoB.

Secondly: In my limited level of analysis I had thought that Gronkowski might be the 'key' to the offense as well, in a different way than Moss though.

Do you think that he helps to dictate coverage when he's on the field on passing downs?

First, thanks for listening man. I think that the unique thing that Gronk provides is disguising intent. His involvement in the run game mandates attention. When there is no pre-snap tell it forces a defense to be honest. The most obvious coverage dictator outside my two previous points is the body factor. It's really hard to get a press and pass against a 6'7 275lb mongloid unless you dedicate a d-lineman. That forces 34 defenses to get away from their primary principals and forces teams to get away from what they do best. Obviously, this is classic Belichick, as it forces removal from comfort. Further, he presents an incredible matchup problem. He's too strong for an OLB to press, and too big for a DB to matchup. What it creates is a declaration of intent that forces the defense to become predictable and to open up the routes outside the hashes. Was that helpful or was I rambling?

I'll give it a listen, but not because of that. I love your takes, even when we don't agree.

Thanks for the support man. I'm glad you listen, but there is clearly a lot I can learn from you.

Well put, that's a great analysis.

Thanks man. I have a tremendous level of respect for your posts. Curious as to your thoughts on my amateur hour analysis on the podcast.

Really enjoyed your podcast jay. Your among that elite group of "knowledgeable posters" on this site as far as I'm concerned. Your opinion is something i put plenty of stock in whether it's the draft forum etc.

It's great for the avid fans that aren't all that technical to be able to come to a fan forum and discuss they're favorite team with people who really know their stuff and voice their concerns/opinions(even if they do differ at times).

Whether it's jmt's media updates, your podcast, Miguel's salary page, Patchix's draft guru-ness or deus' banter. It makes patsfans.com the great resource it's become.

Keep up the good work:eat3:

Wow. That is incredibly kind of you. I'm not the be all/end all of patsfan perspective but I try my best. There's a lot I still can learn. I just try to do my best to analyze what little I can. Thank you so much for the kind words, but there is still so much that I can learn.

The truth is there are many posters on this site like Box, Mayo (I know you can see this!!), Patchick, Andy, Deus, Unoriginal (you've forgotten more than I'll ever know), Pat
Psycho, and many others who are far more astute posters than myself. I'm lucky enough to work with a guy as brilliant as BradyFTW! and his partner. Without those guys, I couldn't contribute a thing. This is a great resource, and I take pride in what little I can contribute to it.

It's great and this is why: you two go into much deeper detail than what we'll ever find on espn, FoxSports, CBS Sports, etc., because of two very important factors:

First, you're almost exclusively following just one team so your knowledge and understanding of the Pats is 100x greater than that of any national media member - despite the very deep pocketed resources those organizations have at their disposal.

Second, they have to cater to the masses in order to maximize ratings. That means they can't get as heavy into X's and O's or else they'll lose the majority of their audience - casual fans who don't know and don't care to learn what a term like Wham means in football terminology.

Bottom line is that your podcasts are 'like porn for Pats fans' - can't get enough of it. Deep insightful conversation about the Pats is rare and very much appreciated, especially by those like myself who live outside of New England.

If you don't mind some constructive criticism I'd just suggest to try and limit the "uhh" and "umm"s. Don't be afraid of a second or two of dead air while you check your notes.

Thank you very much for your time and effort; looking forward to future podcasts.

Before bed bump. I'll be online all day tomorrow.

Give this one a listen, man. I think you'll get a kick out of the 15 minutes I spend going off on how wrong I was about O'Brien. You were so right.

Don't kick yourself too hard. A LOT of people here were wrong about O'Brien.

On a side note, I can't believe I hadn't seen this thread yet. Sadly I'm at work right now and my computer doesn't have sound here. I'll give it a listen when I get home tomorrow morning.

First, let me say thanks for a highly complimentary post. It means a lot coming from a poster like yourself. Towards the umms and uhhs, it comes from a lack of prep on my part. I did that Podcast off the top of my head, and could have done a much better job. I'll get it shored up for Ravens week :)

i agree about the national media. I used to watch espn alot until I started coming here. Def shout out box whose post i follow on draft forum as well. I have learned things from reading Pat psycho when it comes to X's and O's he is usually on-point.

The posters you named and a few others are the reason I read patsfans.com religiously whether I agree or disagree at the time, I always appreciate it because I know what it's like to rely on bspn for your patriot fix. And not have other pats fans around to share the ups and downs with.

You should ramble more often. Your posts are like porn for me:eek:

No you won't. I tried to go into my podcast prepared but all that went out the window when the recorder started. :)

Hahaha thanks, man. If you want to see true porn, though, watch BoB's blocking schemes on Sunday. They make Ava Devine look prude. Not that I have a semblance of a clue about who I mentioned or anything..

Liar! I dominate all I see!!! ;)

Hey Jay, what do you think the drop off between our other DLs is with Brace to Love and whatnot. I feel like outside of Wilfork and Warren that they're all semi interchangeable.

You doing any more Kontra? Listening to you, Jay, etc is gold dust. FAR FAR better than the PFW rabble

Jay's forgotten more than I know about the X's and O's. But if my opinion is welcome on the show, I'd be happy to weigh in again.

It's definitely welcome- sorry the last podcast fell through, then we just kinda stopped doing them. If you're up for it, we'll definitely get you on one in the next week or two, though.
