If they choose to take out welker he thinks his mini clone would be a bad matchup for the Jets.

The only thing about that idea that's scary is that Zolak had it.

As long as Edelperson's over the dropsies, I say we give it to him.

Did Zolak make this announcement via drunken tweet? :)

Taylor Price will be the secret weapon...

The way people talk about Edelman's drops are unfair. We don't throw to the guy all game then bring him in from the cold and expect him to just catch at critical times. At least work the guy into the game early, let him feel part of the game.
Getting a touch of the ball lets you have a feel for the game speed. If I were him, I would be very frustrated with how they have used me.

Not to be offensive here... but you wouldn't do well as a Patriot.
What's BB's 2nd favorite quote besides "It is what it is"? I'd say it's "do your job".
A WR's job is to catch passes when they are thrown to him period.

After a TE blocks all day and is then open in the end zone on his first pass target he needs to make the catch.
If Revis is covering a guy who is not open 30 out of 30 times, maybe he will be open on the 31st attempt and in that situation needs to make the catch.
No rhythm no flow. Do these things do these help? Of course. But as a professional you are expected to do your job regardless of the situation.

May god forgive me but Welker hasn't exactly been Mr. reliable when it comes to the dropsies either recently.

If i'm banned for this comment its been nice knowing you.

Also. Would love to see Price active for this one. can we play 4 in the slot?

Why do we need a secret weapon when our non-secret weapons are already more than the Jets can handle?

What kind of random horrible analysis is this? First of all why would Welker even be taken out? What's the logic behind that? Second I guess Edelman could be put in as his replacement or we could just change our offensive scheme to focus more on the tight ends or Branch. Third is the daring statement of "COULD" be a secret weapon; that way your ass is covered either way.

Why not come up with lame predictions for everyone on the team? Darius Butler could be a secret weapon against the Jets if they take McCourty out of the game. Ron Brace could be a secret weapon against the Jets if they take Wilfork out of the game. Brian Hoyer could be a secret weapon against the Jets if they take Brady out of the game. Can I get paid to be an analyst now please?

He has to be active first. But that would be SWEET!!!

I think he may be active he was seen practicing yesterday in the bubble...maybe just on practice squad we'll know later today.

(Taylor Price)

I would not be surprised if Edelman makes one or two impact punt returns, but I think there are five better receiving options than him that are also potential mismatches for the Jets (Welker, Branch, Gronk, Hernandez, Woodhead).

Edelman's value is in his ability to fill in for Wes effectively, and in the meantime make contributions on special teams.

I love Edleman matched up against a LB, safety, or CB#3 or 4

This is what happens when you get the bye week and Zolak runs out of stuff to say. Secret weapon?!? The Patriots don't need no stinkin' secret weapon!

I could say the same thing (assuming Welker and Branch are covered by CB #1 and #2) about Gronk, Hernandez and Woodhead. And while I think Edelman is a better pure receiver than Woodhead, Woodhead gives the element of the run game at the same time.

use him as a punt returner.

If you want him as a secret weapon, do some stupid kick return reverse with Tate & Edelman that probably won't work.

I don't think the pats need to outthink themselves with this game.

keep is simple and kick their ass.

I think by "take him out" he meant that the Jets take him out by paying a lot of attention to him. In which case, putting Edelman in the game at the same time may create problems.

I'm sure Welker is over the dropsies. All those drops in his last game are going to have him totally focused. He may have had 1 or 2 drops max in this game, but the way the Jests have been talking, he will be even more focused and there won't be ANY drops, just lots of YAC.

Maybe Zolak has been hit in the head just a few times too many.
