Personally I'd say Patriots/Jets, mind you, if I was a Steelers or Ravens fan I might choose that one. Pats/Jets are two teams that I am much more aware of for various reasons. Mind you, I'd love to watch the Steelers/Ravens game but have to work on saturday.

Steelers/Ravens and it isn't even close. The games are close and physical, and always turn into field position battles or go to OT. Both teams are fairly well run and buy strongly into the team concept.

Pats/Jets is more a mutual hatred and less of a rivalry. We own them recently, and they have a dynasty going with regard to preseason Super bowls.

I will certainly be watching the Sat game. I prefer the Ravens to the Steelers, but I'd rather see the Steelers in the AFCCG.

How can the pats-jets be a rivalry when the jets haven't won anything since Namath? How can pats-jets be a rivalry when we win the division almost every year.

Pats-steelers is a major rivalry as well as pats-colts.

With regards to BALT-PITT, this is a HUGE rivalry. Every year, they fight hard and often for the division.

Ravens Steelers.

Classic 1974 AFC Championship, Steelers vs The Raiders (when they were bad, for real)
is in the wild.
22 man fistfight.
Swan, Stallworth, Ham, rookies.
Another great Branch, pitched to by The Super Snake.
49 year old George Blanda kicking FG's for Silver and Black.
Killer Jack, Bubba Smith.

Curt Gowdy, Dandy Don, and Al DeRogatis,
NBC broadcast, gloriously with the advertising.

Promos for Super bowl IX.
Extended coverage for the 3PM game starts at 1:30.
Heh.

Will get you in the mood for some football, and ease some of this stress.
At least, it did that for me.

Ti Ringrazia!

Sure, Steelers/Ravens for the "better rivalry this weekend." But for us old folk, Pats/Jets. Jets as underdog upstarts shown not to be worthy of mention in the same breath as the Pats? Sure fine uh huh, except that a month ago they were the two behemoths astride the league... in fact, it was the Pats that were considered to be playing over their head. It was a toss-up no more than four weeks ago, and now it's supposed to be a foregone conclusion... yeah, to this very subjective observer, Pats/Jets is still the better rivalry.

But I know objectively the closer matchup is the better rivalry. But DAMN I'll hate the Jets if (as admittedly appears quite unlikely) we lose this one!

Jets vs. Patriots is not a rivalry, but can become one if Gang Green beats New England in playoffs

The story was told to me a long time ago by my friend Ernie Accorsi, one of the best football guys of them all, one who goes back to Joe Paterno at Penn State and Johnny Unitas with the old Baltimore Colts, who finally became general manager of the Giants and helped build the team that did what the Jets coach talks and talks about doing on Sunday, which means beat Tom Brady.

...But this still gets treated like some big rivalry. It's not, even if this is essentially Boston and New York, two teams from the AFC East the way the Red Sox and Yankees are the AL East.

For now the Jets are just an opponent, if a loud..., often annoying one...

...You know when the Red Sox and Yankees really became a rivalry? When the Red Sox finally won...The Jets have to go right through a winner like Brady the way the Red Sox went through Mo Rivera and Derek Jeter in October of 2004.

(jets must) do something more than annoy the Patriots with their small resumes and big mouths.

Up to now, Jets-Patriots has been a real rivalry only off the field. Bill Parcells left the Patriots and came to the Jets. Belichick left the Jets and went to the Patriots. Mo Lewis of the Jets knocked Drew Bledsoe to the sidelines and gave Brady his chance to be a starter and the rest is Patriots history and pro football history.

You don't make a rivalry with good quotes. You don't help anything very much when you lose by six touchdowns in a big game of "Monday Night Football." If you are the Jets, you make one by beating Brady. Ernie Accorsi was right. Rivalries are give and take. The Jets need to do to Brady what the Giants did in Glendale. Give him a beating, take his season.

OT: What two teams hate each other more

Pats and Jets or Ravens and Steelers

Four hated division rivals who are going at it this week. Both sides of talked smack about the other...who hates each other more?

Re: OT: What two teams hate each other more

It's the Ravens/Steelers by far.
I consider the Colts a bigger rival than the Jets.
The Jets are a whole lot of white noise who've never won anything and won't again this year.

Jets/Patriots has a lot more history. Ravens/Steelers is obviously very recent.
I'm betting the R/S rivalry goes back to when the Ravens were the Cleveland Browns.

This doesnt really make any sense Rhody.

Pats lead the Jets 3-1 in superbowls. (or 6-1 in appearances)

The Steelers lead the Ravens 6-1 in superbowls (or 7-1 in appearances)

The success gap is even bigger in the Steelers - Ravens rivalry.

Re: OT: What two teams hate each other more

Brady and Belichick hate the jets more than anyone else. I'm sure the other guys just get tired of hearing Jets folk running their yaps.

The Steelers and Ravens matchups are glorified bar fights.

Both rivalries are pretty lopsided, to me that kind of spoils both. Ravens cannot beat Ben, and though the Jets are a bit closer record-wise, they have never gotten the better of us since BB's first year, while we have swept them or 2-1'd them multiple times. I'd give the slight edge to Balt-Pitt since their games are alot closer usually and more physical.

Ravens and Jets have their chance Sunday to turn it around but I don't see it happening for either team. Even Pats/Steelers has been one-sided, really the only great rivalry right now is Pats/Colts but Indy is falling fast.

I'm betting the R/S rivalry goes back to when the Ravens were the Cleveland Browns.

It actually goes back to the Steelers / Colts of the 70's. Different teams, but I remember those games, they were hard hitting games, and the Steelers had to get past Baltimore in the playoffs for 2 of their superbowls.

Seahawks/ Bears! Second to none! Goes way back to 2010.

In my opinion, the recent Baltimore versus Pittsburgh rivalry is comparable to Miami versus New York in the NBA during the nineties. That is, the aggressive nature in which these teams usually played defense. But I can see how some fans might not view either the Jets versus New England or Baltimore versus Pittsburgh as a true rivalry. What you see today are a lot of individual personalities talking smack or jarring back-and-forth through the media. One particular aspect of a true rivalry often time pertains to two teams that have players who collectively dislike the opposing players and playing against them. Sometimes, this develops over time by playing against each other on a regular basis. Unfortunately, you don't have that as much in the NFL as you do in the NBA. Unless, you've teams such as the Jets and New England this season playing against each other for a third time in the playoffs.

I know for myself, I only care about the Patriots. On the other hand, due to certain match-ups in the playoffs, I find myself wanting to watch other playoff games, albeit not in their entirety. However, I felt disinterested in the games last weekend. Even the Jets at Indianapolis game seem to lack something.

I hope this weekend's games are worthwhile.
