Rumor: Damien Woody to have season ending surgery today

Not good news for the Jets if true:

Heard a rumor this AM that RT Damien Woody is getting season ending Achilles surgery today. I repeat .. A RUMOR .. we'll find out more ASAP.

Could be a big blow, but they played without him the last 3 regular season games.

Wow...Good luck to Damien if thats true...but thats a huge blow to the jets offensive line if he's out.

I'm not wishing injury on anyone...but my first reaction was "Charma is a beech"...

Well, two of the last three games. I didn't think their offense played particularly well against the Steelers. 7 of their 22 points came on special teams and two of the points came on defense. They played well against the Bears. The Bills is a bit of unknown because the Bills packed it in for that game.

This rumor has been out for about 6 hours now and nothing has come out of it.

Well, Woody was absent from practice today. So it still could be true.

Woody struggled against the Colts. I guess it's possible that they just think he's either risking further injury, or he's not going to be able to hold up.

Probably the latter. If I recall correctly, he had a lot of help against Mathis.

Last night on sound FX they had Pete Carroll explaining to Woody that he needs to take pride in making every snap perfect.

Apparently Woody didn't understand the message, because his shotgun snaps were pitiful.

I would agree. He is better than whomever they would be having play in his place, thus making their offense better in the process. Just not sure of his impact as a whole.

I wonder if this will change the way the Pats deploy their D-line with the possibility of putting Vince over Ferguson. I would think they'll still put him over Mangold but odds are the Jets aren't going to run to their right as much given this injury.

I for one sincerely hope that this turns out better for Woody than it did for Achilles.
