WSJ: Regual season blowouts tend to repeat in Playoffs

It is nice that history is on the Pats' side, but it really doesn't mean a whole heck of a lot on Sunday. If the Pats blow out the Jets again, it isn't because historically teams blow teams out in the playoffs after blowing them out in the regular season.

It will be because the Patriots were much better prepared and executed much more efficiently than the Jets, which is what unfolded on December 6th.

The Saints would love to comment on this article

The way the piece defines a "blowout" of 10 points or more, sort of makes its main point meaningless... since we're at least 9 point favorites anyway.

I can't recall the Jets win margin over us earlier in the season, but in spirit, that was a blowout--that is they should have beaten us by 10 points, even if they didn't actually do this.

But didn't both teams embarrass one another this season? The only logical thing to expect now is a close game...or another Pats blowout since it's in Gillette. I'm not holding my breath on that one, though!

5 games in 40 years is hardly a tendency. There is no history of it, it means absolutely nothing. The game has to be played on Sunday.
