INDIANAPOLIS -- Tom Brady missed a hell of a game. Rather than watch the New York Jets advance into his own backyard, the quarterback of the New England Patriots took in "Lombardi" on Broadway, enjoyed the play with his supermodel wife and did not even bother to leave early to catch the entire second half.

In all fairness, I'm sure it was way more exciting than that fugly game last night.

Yeah, it was close, but a close game doesn't make it a good game. There were numerous stupid decisions, and I can't believe how little is being made of Caldwell's time-out with less than a minute to go which gave the Jets a free chance to pick up 18 yards before a field goal.

It was bad football. I'm glad Brady didn't watch lest he pick up some stupid habits from Sanchez or Manning.

Also, this is no shock, after all, Rex reminded us all last week that Brady doesn't need to study since BB will be showing him what he needs to know. LOL!

I hope he enjoyed Lombardi, and it reminded him of how much he's missed his trophy.

That's what the New York press jumped on Sanchez about when he was spotted at a couple. Man, all these knuckle dragging cavemen forever slay me. Guys like Wicked Pissah and the like. Brady will show up Monday morning (possibly Tuesday) to find a DVD of the All 22 of all the defensive plays so he can study it. No reason for him to watch the game live on TV.

Speaking as somebody who had the pleasure of seeing that play, it really is inspirational. He probably had some Belichickian moments watching it too.
Lombardi was the first guy to convert a college defensive lineman ( Dave Robinson) into an outside linebacker based on his skill set. He urged his players to "do their job"...sound familiar????
I hope somebody asks him about it this week....

Rather than watch the coaching cluster**** TFB chose to watch the life and times of the coach with a trophy named after him. TFB-one eye always on the prize:rocker: I guess he found the Lombardi story far more inspirational; he'll get the 411 from the game film.

Just curious, what is your point? I mean, what was the purpose of posting this thread?

Since you are a Jets fan I'm sure you have a reason for posting this here, but rather than make an assumption of what you're implying or put words in your mouth I'd really like to hear your thoughts on the column, and what this apparently big news means to Brady and the Patriots.

I'm sure even the guy who wrote the article knows this is all just fun fluff. It's obviously a waste of time for an NFL QB to sit glued to a network broadcast with all of its "analysis" and beer ads. Wait for the actual game film, and take advantage of the bye week you earned while the other guys slug it out.

What makes the story kind of awesome instead of pointless is that the show was "Lombardi" rather than, say, "Mary Poppins." Though "Jersey Boys" might have made for a nice headline too.

This is what a bye week does - it allows players a weekend off to get away from the game and take a breather. Good for Tom. Peyton Manning should try this approach, i.e. have a life beyond football and enjoy it. Bet he'd do better in playoff situations if he wasn't football 24/7/365.

The "time away" may have an additional benefit.
Hopefully from the show, his wife gained more appreciation of committement and insight to the game at its highest level. To succeed at this level, he will need her support and understanding, won't he?
