Any chance we bring Richard Seymour back in 2011?

I've heard nothing that indicates Seymour won't be back with the Raiders. If someone's got information to the contrary, I'd love to hear/see it.

Seymour talks about Pats, says he won't return
Don't think so:
"There's probably about 31 teams I'd consider going to," Seymour said with a laugh, referring to the rest of the field in the 32-team National Football League. When asked if he would accept a call from the Pats if they approached him about coming back, he said, "That isn't something I'm looking to do at all."

The immortal Bard had a genuine Bon Mot for this: " The man doth protest too much..."

When signing a FA the question is always will he fit in the new Team. That question is already answered.

The other is why did he leave? Belichick added up the CAP costs for Wilfork, Mankins, Moss, AD, Light and Brady and simply said it all doesn't fit, someone or somones had to go... The biggest single fix was Seymour.

AD and Moss are gone and all the other contracts, save Mankins have been resolved. I'd love to see him back, instantly answering the last piece of rebuilding still to be done.

Good answer by him to save face. The Patriots don't want him back so Seymour, don't be waiting by that phone.

Not a chance in hell and besides I want a young group to continue getting better with youth to stay competitive for another 10 years.

No chance. Seymour was traded in part because of personality issues. I don't see BB taking him in later or ****ie wanting back in.

Loved the Seymour but that's over now.

Seymour won 3 super bowls already, time to go get his money now.

Seymour is 31-years-old, has back problems, misses time on a regular basis and is not part of the makeover plan. He missed 3 games for the Raiders this year (2 of which the Raiders won!) The Raiders were under .500 with Seymour in the game at 6-7. But he was picked for the pro bowl.

Watch for Belichick to draft or trade picks for at least one top-talent defensive lineman in the first two rounds. Richard Seymour is at the end of his career, will miss more games in 2011 and provides less flexibility than a lot of guys. Look at Vince Wilfork and the flexibility he provides - watch for another guy like that for Vince to mentor added to Ty Warren coming back from his injury and the line gets stronger. The young guys improved since August on the D-line and the transition there is under way as well. Seymour doesn't fit that equation.

Sums it up. The Pats are going to pay more then some other team for a player in the home stretch of his career. The bad blood about how the transaction went down doesn't help either.

While some will point to the Branch or even Law analogies, the closer one to Seymour is Milloy. Killed Bill to walk away from him but there really never was a choice because try as he did Bill can never totally get through to some of them because the ego driven get yours agenda is too deeply ingrained and the system can't accommodate it and win. Seymour's three year extension following his 2005 mini holdout was a test of sorts and Richard didn't pass it. Ergo he was gone before it even played out. After a major retool including of the core leadership and a house cleaning to re-establish the culture here you don't bring that guy back, ever.

Here's a simple test for people who have been conscious while following BB's tenure...

The Patriots can do one of two things....

1. Sign a big name quality veteran over 30 at a high contract/cap price despite some past attitude 'issues' and a history of back problems, adding another significant cap hit to one position, D Line with Wilfork and Warren already well compensated at that position.

OR

2. Use a high draft pick to select a quality young lower cap hit defensive player with at least 4 productive career years before big contract time?

So, which choice will BB make?
