When Gostkowski went down with this injury we all took a deep gulp and wondered what will happen in critical situations and who will we sign?

The answer was Shayne Graham who has been absolutely an awesome replacement going a perfect 12 for 12 on FGs

My question is does Gostkowski and his injury give any possibility that he may have to work hard to get his job back from Shayne? or is it still his without question?

Could be a wild competition at Kicker this offseason

Need to see how clutch Graham can be in the playoffs. Remember he missed key FGs against the Jets in the last playoffs.

The way this offense is going,Shayne may have the fewest attempts at FGs in the playoffs but the most attempts at extra points....hopefully that is the case

I hope you're right dude. I don't want a possible win or tie to fall on his leg.

I think it's Gostkowski's job to lose, especially considering the contract that we signed him to last year. Graham has been great, but Gost is our kicker going forward.

might be competition in camp, but either way, competition is good

though i expect the ghost to be back for us next season

Didn't he miss an extra point?

Gost should get the job for his KOs alone.

Plus Ghost can hit touchbacks.

He missed at least two.

In his defense, the first miss was his first week with a new snapper and new holder and the second one was IIRC right after a pick 6 in brutal weather conditions...

I was just adding info, I'm not bashing the guy. He's done pretty well filling in, but he is no Ghost.

Can't believe its topic for debate, the job is 100% Gostkowski's, Graham makes me nervous

IF Graham has a good postseason, and IF Ghost completely recovers physically, then Graham is just auditioning for a job somewhere else for next year.

He's got a great opportunity to shed the questions about high pressure kicks during these playoffs.

I'm not sure Graham will be play elsewhere next year. He's considered retiring before, his last year at Cincy, and has made mention of wanting to move back down south. Now, that's not to say he wouldn't resign if needed and the money is good. A lot will depend upon how well Ghost recovers from his injury, and gets back into kicking drills, etc.

as has been said before, unless Graham can kick off like Ghost, its not really much of a competition.

Graham isn't coming to camp, there's plenty of teams with bad kickers out there. Graham Gano is still in the league.

Playing in Cincy will have that effect on you. He's only 33, which is young by kicker standards when you consider the Andersens/Feagles played into their 40's....

Bingo. Graham will have his pick of employment next year, it just won't be with the Pats (contingent on Ghost's recovery, of course).

Ghost is in the same situation as all of our other IR'd players. We don't know what a single one of them will be next year and competition/contingencies will be in place all around...possibly including Graham who has been a welcome addition.
