For all those who refused to believe that BJGE may be a better back than Maroney

I think most people (like myself) were hopeful for Maroney's potential. Then he kept getting hurt, and over time it after seeing more action it was time to let him go. It will be interesting to see if he gets signed anywhere next year.

Hot Crow is served. Come'and get it boys!

Now this is some crow im sure you all will gladly eat... :)

Cousins, I was torched for my Maroney comments. My buttocks hair is finally growing back. I am vindicated there. I remember some saying BJGE would be a camp cut!

I was also adamant that Sanders was in a similar place as far as lack of value. I still don't like him and at some times he is a liability. He goes through periods where he can't cover or tackle...... but he has had a pretty good year. Is he my starter? No.... but he has made a important play or two so just don't serve my Sanders crow with feathers and that will be only a very small portion please. I guess as long as he and Merriweather are not inconsistent at the same time, we will be o.k.(p.s. I still don't trust either of them in a tight game and I still think both can be upgraded).

While the oven is on, I do have some Carriker and Gocong crow for some that I am cooking. It appears both were on crap teams but both had solid years. At 37 tackles and 1.5 sacks Carriker, whom I was informed so eloquently by some of our superstars, could not play in this league, yet had more tackles than any of our DL and started every game. How many wish we had a guy like him for the playoffs where we are wafer thin now? It cost the Redskins a swap of picks in the fourth round. Would we revisit that if we could?

Gocong had a nice year and his first at ILB, with two sacks and 75 tackles. I am happy with Spikes but Gocong was a cheap acquisition for the Browns and the Eagles will miss him for their playoffs with dinged Bradley and a rookie to start.

Both Carriker and Gocong are still young. If I eat Sanders crow I want the pseudo-intellectuals here dining with me for their share, and pass the potatoes.

By the way, I am still of the school that thinks that Moss and Branch together could have worked pending what was really going on between Moss and BB. I am still seeing Welker as less effective. Even if we call it 10%-15% less it is still fact. I think it was Zolak who brought that up. Tate gets fewer snaps would be the minor negative.

Getting back on track. BJGE I thought was decent because of his north south style....but..... a 1,000 runner if any, I thought would go to Taylor this year "if" he stayed healthy. Thanks for a great season so far Benny. Let's keep it going.

You were right about Maroney, dead wrong about Sanders, and you're still wrong about Carriker.

I'll take Spikes over the long term over Gocong, as well.

Can I have seconds please?

Maroney showed potential to be a big time back his first two years. I think he bulked up in response to the injuries he suffered in those years and lost his speed and quickness as a result. Couple that with his always mediocre instincts and he's just not a quality back anymore.

I've eaten that crow more than a few times this year, but sure, I'll eat it again. I will say that injuries have obviously robbed Maroney of a lot of the athleticism that made him good in the first place, but that doesn't change the fact that BJGE had a better season this year than Maroney's ever had.

This is crow I have no problem eating, and deserve to be at the front of the line for given my previous - and now silly looking - stance on Maroney.

We've all been wrong at one time or another.

We've all been wrong at one time or another.

Very true.

[Granted I have been eating crow left and right recently...from Kontra re: the Heat; the Benny vs. Maroney argument; my prior stance on Mankins.]

But, at least when it comes to the Patriots, they have been making a whole lot of people eat crow this year. Which is even tastier than humble pie.

I admitted I was wrong about the guy already. He didn't have a great start to the season and came on in the second half especially after Mankins came back.

This currently great offense succeeds partly because BJGE and Woodhead reliably get a few yards every time. There are many 2nd and 7 or 3rd and 3 situations after they touch the ball, which gives the offense options and puts the team in situations that keep the defense guessing.

Maroney is a much more talented back than BJGE. The difference is work ethic and we were not aware of that fact until the time of Maroney's departure.

Fred Taylor said on WEEI about how hard lawfirm works and suggested that Maroney didn't have the hunger or desire to be as good as he can be.

Maroney failed because when he is in the game, he takes too long to hit the line of scrimmage. Woodhead and BJGE are far more effective football players than Maroney and that's all that matters.

Saying Maroney is more talented than BJGE is like saying JaMarcus Russell is more talented than low draft picks like Brady or Cassel. Work ethic and intangibles should be part of the total package when looking at a player.

How do you define talent?

I'd give Maroney the advantage in straight line speed but nothing else. After watching BJ with a full regular season behind him .... toughness, instincts, quickness, vision, strength, balance, shiftiness, pass protection, pass catching ability... all belongs to BJ. We're not even talking about focus and determination.

I have no idea how anyone can say that Maroney has more talent unless you are holding on to some misplaced belief in the dude. Stats aren't everything, but by the numbers, he's the least effective back in the NFL. What makes him so talented, other than the fact that Belichick drafted him in the first?

Do you reckon DW Toys goes to the primate enclosure of a zoo and high 5's the monkeys, chimps and orangutans whilst calling them "cousins" because the power of Christ compels him too?

I knew you would not let me down. Never said I wouldn't take Spikes over Gocong. I said Gocong had a pretty solid year and some say (wonder who)he was not a player.....well then they would be wrong then wouldn't they? Not all pro but not bad. Before the Draft I said he would have been a good pick up. They Draft Spikes and he works out decent. Spikes works for me too so pay attention cousin.

Seriously Jack? Exchanging 4th round positions for a 26 year old DL kid who had a pretty good year (again please read more tackles than anyone on our D line on a crap team) would have bothered you? I do believe I might have the advantage on you sir on that one as well. Again, not an all pro but he might have been a decent add. Today we picked up two DL guys off the street Cousin.

I noticed you have grown a mini-me as well from down under. Do you dress alike in corduroys and ripple soled shoes and such? Let me guess...white socks? With all due respect to you Jack, do you mind if I nick name him Igor?

This is all in fun Jack and Igor. Don't take it seriously.

Sir, I would prefer if you keep the Lord out of this....Deal? I take the last line personally. Moderator please note.

Igor, you and Jack can rank on me all you like. Have at it. I rather enjoy the school yard attempt at one-upsmanship. With all due respect though, don't go the other route please.
Thanks,

I was never a huge Maroney fan, but of course, I never saw BJGE doing what he has done. Not sure if I should take a helping of crow or not, so maybe I will just pass for now. :D

Slightly off topic, but IMHO the 1,000 mark is not what it once was, given the 16 game schedule. I am NOT disparaging BJGE's accomplishment.

Someone once defined a great running back as one who can consistently turn a three yard loss into a three yard gain. I think that is alot of why BJGE is doing really well for us...he almost always gets positive yardage. And, never fumbles, which is amazing.

My biggest problem with Maroney was his fumbling. That's an area where lawfirm excels.

Remember when Maroney fumbled by the endzone against the Colts? That was the last straw, BJGE has 13 TDs and 0 Fumbles.
