Thanks to Oakland, Patriots Picking #17

Considering it is pick #33, the value may be more than ONLY a 1st rounder next year. I'm thinking

1) a 1st rounder in 2012
and
2a) a 4th rounder this year, or
2b) a 3rd rounder next year, or
2c) an under-30-year-old starter / rotation player with 3-4 experience, at OLB or D-line

Another factor in our favor, value-wise, is a larger-than-normal coaching turnover. There will be more teams putting in new systems and looking for their guys to put in place from day one.

Too little. Think a #1 in 2012 AND a #2 in 2011. If a QB like Mallet or Locker for example slips to the 2nd round, a QB needy team would give that especially if there is competition for the pick. Perhaps the Pats throw in 4th or 5th rounder, but it would take something like that.

#33 is only one pick from a #1 and you need to wait one year to use it, and could potentially not be much lower than #33 if the acquiring team has a good year.

With the lockout, junior will probably stay at college, and overall class value will be lower. At least 2 of our 4 first picks should be traded away for next years picks.

supposedly miami doesnt have a second round pick

nor do they have a viable qb and per pft the asking price for orton is a second round pick

if sparano stays he needs to win now and so does ireland, maybe we trade our 33 to them for their first the year after so they can pursue orton?

How many times can the Chiefs screw the Pats? WTF did we get for Cassell and Vrable and Pioli?!! 1 pick, 2 picks, 0 picks??!!

Now they lay down and lose to the flippin Raiders and screw us out of a higher draft pick. I am VERY upset about this.

Really, you've got to get a life. It's disappointing, but let's get real...

If we do, put BB in a retirement home. WAY too little value.

I'd be very surprised if the #33 pick isn't traded.

No, I think it'll be #32 that's traded for a 2012 1st + other considerations, and we'll either pick at 33 or do a small trade down to 35 or 36.

the bengals are supposedly keeping lewis, this means ochocinco is probably gone along with owens

wide receiver is set to be deep this year so a good player like floyd could be available early on in the second, another potential trading partner with a head coach who needs a good year.

Are you serious? Time for the league to contract then and kick these losers OUT. Nothing against Lewis, but come on, he has done little in all the years he's been there. Sure they made the playoffs twice, and were one and done both times. What an embarrassment. Bengals fans deserve pity. :ugh:

i was surprised but alot of their fans seem to put their malaise on brown, general feeling that lewis wont struggle to find work/ bengals would struggle to attract new coach.

Yeah I know. As long as Mike Brown is running the show I suppose it doesn't matter who the coach is.

If all you care about is making money, pro sports (at least at the major league level) is the wrong business for you. Paul Brown must be spinning in his grave watching his son run everything into the ground.

Giving BB #17, #32 (if we win the SB) and #33 is like giving the keys to the vault to a bank robber!

The next decade might be better than the last!

If he builds this defense like I hope he does, we are set for a while!

its easy to be excited, it seems as though our picks outnumber our glaring holes, we really could be a team that drafts for ability rather than need, even if most say they do.

exciting times

Nope. Many juniors already declaring. The opposite of what you said is true. There's a chance there won't be a wage-scale for the upcoming draft. It's a certainty there will be one for the 2012 draft. So, they will all be coming out.
