boo to all the afc west teams for going 0-6 with the raiders, especially the "uber talented" chargers. i've never seen a more overrated team in my life.

Unreal. I cannot believe they went 0-6 in that division and screwed us so bad. Missed out on Seymours services for a 17th?. I'll take it thanks. We'll still get a good player out of the deal. Trade for Moss for a 4th and get a 3rd. Draft Seymour for a 6th and get a 17th. Not too bad. Could of been better but again I'll take it.

BTW how do you think the Raiders owner will reward the poor coach in Oakland taking that band of rag tag players to atleast respectability? Yep, fired over a 2.5 million bonus he doesn't want to pay. Yet he will pay out the ying yang for SB MVP Larry Brown and Desmond Howard. Horribly run franchise.

I was initially VERY interested in the outcome of the Raiders' season because of the pick, but I've come to realize that the Patriots will target the player that they want, pay the price to get him, and likely get more ammo for future considerations. In the end, they'll come out ahead....possibly WAY ahead. So, BFD about the Oakland win. Who cares?

I'd be very surprised if the #33 pick isn't traded.

After all Crumpler is another year older and we didnt draft one in the first round since 2004.

I'd be shocked if we use that pick. There's a whole day for at least 2 teams to realize that a player is on the board that they cant live without and will be willing to outbid others to make the Pats a sweet deal.

I read a lot of speculation that 33 will be traded. I'm wondering what folks see the Pats getting in return, and who the candidates might be to make such a trade. To me you need a team with a lower or no second round pick this year, that would be willing to give up a first for 2012; and for it to be worthwhile to the Pats, it would have to be a team likely to be at least top 20 pick-wise looking ahead. Or maybe a lower first and a third for '12?

So I guess the bottom line questions are: What's the market for this pick? And what's its value in a trade?

i think management likes having three picks in the first two round at least, i think we aim for that again next year

someone might be desperate enough to trade us their 1 next year for the 33 this year but its hard to say who with so many teams in rebuilding phase, maybe the eagles as they will probably net some picks for kolb and need o line help and the value is probably around 33.

I could see us giving away our second first round to a team we gamble will fail next year, Seahawks would be nice.

I'm wondering what folks see the Pats getting in return?

Considering it is pick #33, the value may be more than ONLY a 1st rounder next year. I'm thinking

1) a 1st rounder in 2012
and
2a) a 4th rounder this year, or
2b) a 3rd rounder next year, or
2c) an under-30-year-old starter / rotation player with 3-4 experience, at OLB or D-line

Another factor in our favor, value-wise, is a larger-than-normal coaching turnover. There will be more teams putting in new systems and looking for their guys to put in place from day one.

It's early but our season won't end in Feb I'll give you two names right off the top of my head.. Jerry Jones/Dallas and Jerry Angelo's/Bears.. We've had history with both teams and both are primed to look to add additional OL help.. A Tackle who slipped or highly rated guard might make them jump..

It could be interesting to see if a team overpays for 32 , knowing there will be a lot of overnight interest in 33. Head of the competition. Nice position for Pats to be in.
