In points/min and points/yard, the offenses are identical. The '10 defense is on the field for 3:35 more than '07 ....meaning the '10 offense gets 5 fewer plays/game

I posted on another thread that the 2010 O faced 10 teams with top 11 Ds and the 2007 team faced 5 teams with top 11 defenses.

So yes, less time to score but the 2010 team faced twice as many good defenses on its schedule.

In '07 we played at our worst for much of the playoffs and Super Bowl- our nightmare scenario- and our opponents played pretty darn well. Yet we still came that close.

If we don't play our best football, we'll lose this time, and without the luck factor.

This is all true, but one factor that won't derail the Patriots this year is Thomase and his lying sack of sh!t Walsh.

...and Arlen Specter is no longer in office.

2010...not as experienced as 2007, but not as slow either....Bruschi and Seau...love them both...but didn't have the speed to make plays..also 2007 relied so much on Moss, that the running game was, or seemed not existent.

How balanced was the offense comparing 2nd half 2007 to 2nd half 2010 ?

yeah but i just remember bruschi, vrabel, etc. and would love to have their experience over the inexperience of spikes, cunningham, mccourty, etc. if this were NEXT year, where the kids will have more experience, it would be a different issue.

plus u guys don't know how the 2010 team will finish. the 2007 team only gave up 17 points in the super bowl and held the giants to 3 points through 3 quarters that day. it was our offense that didn't get the job done in the SB - can't be the highest scoring team ever and only manage 14 points in a super bowl. to me, brady was playing with that high ankle sprain which limited his ability...that helped the giants D tremendously. the 2007 defense gave up only 274 points which is i think the fewest the pats allowed over the past 10 years.
I think the point is that a SB loss would not be good enough.

Oh, BTW . . .

2007 team, games 9-16: 258 points
2010 team, games 9-15: 261 points

I'd also guess without looking that this 2010 team is better at red zone efficiency and also 3rd down conversion.

The 2007 offense was a one trick pony.

Not sure about the RZ stat, but 3rd down is on NFL.com:

2010: 84/180 = 46.7%, 180 3rd downs/912 plays = 19.7%
2007: 92/191 = 48.2%, 191 3rd downs/1058 plays = 18.0%

The 2007 Pats were actually a bit better at avoiding 3rd downs in the first place, and a bit better (not dramatically so) at converting them.
