OT: Matt Cassel punks Cris Collinsworth

I absolutely hate Collinsworth during games because he can't just call the games.. He throws in his 2 cents on just about every play and his comments are usually wrong.

For me, Gruden, Aikman and Jaws have set the bar so high, folks like Collinsworth who occasionally say something insighful are marginalized.

I don't think hes terrible, but he's not good either.

I used to not like Cris but he grew on me. One thing I like about him is unlike other colour commentators, he actually critics players he thinks are lousy even if he's sometimes wrong. And he's man enough to admit when he's wrong, at least in this instance.

I agree with this. Chris isn't afraid to speak his mind, and give you the reasons for his beliefs, and when he's wrong he'll admit that. That's what the color commentator is supposed to do. The announcer calls the game, and the other guy adds the "color", the interesting remarks, background info, impressions of players, coaches, plays called, etc.

respects,

OK, this was hilarious, I loved the banter, and you can't deny CC was a good sport about it even if he is just a "motivational tool" who's one step up from Skip Bayless.

i cant handle jon "this guy" gruden anymore. any player who makes a tackle or block or catch is a "great" player in gruden's book.

i dont mind collinsworth during games. he is most often spot on with the call on the field or what happened on the play before the replay.

I used to like CC, but he has gotten into a habit of making a point early in a game...and then grinding into submission for the next 3 hours. For that reason, I am now a HATER.

How about Matt Millen...the man is a walkin and talkin mistake. Some guys can get away with being a master of the obvious...not Matt...he fuks up the obvious as well

that just reconfirmed what i've always thought of collinsworth..... he's a clown.

Possible thread during the bye week......IF NOT THE PATRIOTS, WHO WILL YOU ROOT FOR?

I am all over the Chiefs...for obvious reasons. I love Matt Cassel. I absolutely enjoyed his 1 year at the helm of the Patriots. Watching his skills and comfort level evolve just in those 16 games was amazing. Add the Pioli/Weiss/Crennel trio into the formula and I will be more than happy to jump on their bandwagon. Hell, I'm already on it.

The willingness to make fun of himself without pretension is one of the traits that makes Collinsworth so good at his job.

I think Matt has a little bit to do, yet, before he passes Carson Palmer.

But he's certainly better than Matt Leinhart.

Matt Cassel can get ahead of Palmer by winning 1 playoff game. Palmer is 0-2, granted that he blew his knee in one of them. But I don't see the Bengals winning a playoff game anytime soon with Marvin Lewis, unfortunately for Palmer.

Sanchez beat Palmer twice in a row last year. Maybe Cassel can beat Sanchez. The battle of the USC QB begins!

Cassel is the best USC QB in the league at the moment, and he's certainly worked his wa into my top 10. But consistency is key, hopefully he maintains it.

Cassel vs Palmer is kinda a bad argument because you're arguing what one was vs what one is. Cassel is good. Palmer was good. Maybe Palmer truly would be better if they got rid of the divas around him, he had an awesome game when his #1 and #1 were out with injury. It's hard to satisfy ego's like that, for as quiet as Moss was for 3 years look at what eventually transpired in NE after the gameplan changed.
