Toe sucking on the Jets sidelines might be a future fine.

Re: Jets Fined 100K for tripping incident....

Hmm so this means that the League decided the decision to make the wall came from the top then?

Re: Jets Fined 100K for tripping incident....

Since it's a release from the NFL there's no reason to wait for a link:

The New York Jets were notified today that the club has been fined $100,000 by Commissioner Roger Goodell for violating league rules in the recent incident involving Jets assistant coach Sal Alosi, who placed players in a prohibited area on the sideline to impede an opposing team's special teams players and gain a competitive advantage. This is both a competitive violation as well as a dangerous tactic. The discipline imposed on the club also includes the response to the incident of coach Alosi and special teams coordinator Mike Westhoff, who made public comments accusing other teams of employing similar tactics. Both the NFL Constitution and Bylaws and other league policies require clubs to report actual or suspected violations of competitive rules by other teams only to the league office and not to engage in public criticism of other clubs. The fine has been imposed on the Jets to emphasize that clubs are accountable for the actions of their employees and have the obligation to ensure that all members of their organization comply with league rules.

Re: Jets Fined 100K for tripping incident....

WTF, no draft pick?!

Re: Jets Fined 100K for tripping incident....

No law suit in front of the Supreme Court saying if the other team's coaches are tripping your players, you should get paid damages?

Re: Jets Fined 100K for tripping incident....

How about $1m for facilitating the sexual harassment of an employee?

Re: Jets Fined 100K for tripping incident....

So not cooperating with the league like Favre = $50K.

A "dangerous tactic" and "competitive violation" to use the NFL's words is only $100K to the organization.

What a joke.

If it's a camera apparently the offense is much more egregious.

For the record, the AP News alert crossed at 17:42 (5:42)

NFL release at 17:51 (5:51)

It's now 18:15 (6:15) and NOT ONE MENTION of this on nfl.com. I will keep checking. puke enducing. This is starting to tick me off.

Re: Jets Fined 100K for tripping incident....

so ....are they forfeiting a draft pick too :p

Re: Jets Fined 100K for tripping incident....

Well, I don't think more proof is needed on this forum, but hopefully other fans will start to recognize what a menace Goodell is to the NFL. The more owners that feel pressure from fans, the better.

Re: Jets Fined 100K for tripping incident....

I wish we as fans could do something about Goodell. Like vote him out.

Re: Jets Fined 100K for tripping incident....

This is all so much bull sh!t.

Is the severity of punishment weighted by your recent won/loss record or superbowl wins?
A sliding scale for pathetic organizations.

I'm not saying what they did was draft pick deduction material, but by these standards neither was videotaping from the wrong position....by a long shot.

My tinfoil hat side thinks the whole spygate thing was an attempt at restoring parity...and several of my co-workers (non-Pats fans) agree.

Well I hate to make an argument that supports Goodell and goes against the Pats but we weren't fined for 1 incident or 1 season but something like 5 or 6 seasons of violating Goodell's mandate, which is why the penalty seems so insane compared to others.
