37 of the 54 Patriots players have never won a playoff game

Incredible number of players at 37 to have had no postseason success with 23 of those players having NEVER been in the playoffs before which includes the rookies.

How the team leaders and stars of the team to have won in the playoffs before help out those who haven't,may play a big role and factor in NEs quest to be on the road to Dallas in February.

Its time for Leadership and experience to stand up and shout in that locker room if these Pats are going to get where we all want them to go and to get by the elevated level of play and do or die situations that many of these guys have yet to be in.

That is a great stat, it's not only rooks but 2nd even 3d year players. For Those few who have worn a patriots jersey and have won, this is the time to temper the excitement and emphasize doing your job. I can see Crumpler, Wilfork, Mankins and others providing leadership. Certainly, someone will need to keep close tabs on Spikes. After not playing for 4 games, he'll feel the need to prove something which can lead to being out of position and/or stupid over zealous penalties

After the past 4 games I am not so sure that an immature Spikes is ready to get back his starting role next to Mayo.

I would think its Guyton's job to mess up or at least be in rotation with Brandon - IMO Guyton has been tremendous as a replacement.

Hes still not better vs the run- but as an all-around LB, Guyton is a superior player no question.

Guyton has been very impressive but he is awful against the run, and hasn't seemed to have improved much in that area. I think there's still a role for Spikes on early downs in this D when he comes back.

I'm not really that worried about the lack of playoff experience. This team has played a national spotlight game almost every week this year against top-flight opponents, and has shown no sign of wilting under pressure. Just the opposite — they thrive.

BB has said that before. They get drafted in April. They have rookie camp, mini-camp, training camp They are here in the offseason. They have 150 practices under their belt. They've had (including pre-season) 20 NFL games under their belt. They know how to play with pain. They know how to prepare. They know what their coaches expect from them. They have defined roles.

No question that the have lots to learn still but not like it's the first day at work and you have a big presentation to give.

Look at the roster... not many. Less than ten. Remember: BB did a flush job and replaced many with free agents. I stand by my statement.

It certainly can help to have playoff experience or Super Bowl experience but it is not a huge problem by not having any in football. It's more about confidence and preparation than anything.

Playoff experience is more of a big deal in the NHL and the NBA IMO.

Not sure where this debate is going, but I just looked at the roster on Wikipedia, and came up with 8 guys who had been on the Pats previous Super Bowl team, 96-97: Bledsoe, Bruschi, TJohnson, McGinest, Law, Milloy, Vinatieri, Glenn. Troy Brown was part of that team but I don't believe he played (if he had, he would have tackled Desmond Howard!)

The main point in this thread is that the young haven't just had a full season of play now, they've played and beaten the rest of the best while under the spotlight. They flashed some of their ability to make big plays as early as the pre-season and built upon that. The poise and strength these guys have shown is truly remarkable; they love laying football and they love winning and that attitude is a great help come playoff time.

It might be my imagination, but Big Vince seems to have stepped it up this year as a leader and spokeman.
Apart from Brady, who is in a class of his own, Big Vince is my favorite player (and my son's as well). He is paying alot more downs with all the injuries it seems like and doing a great job.
I LOVE it when a runner is headed east, and Big Vince is headed west, and they collide. I swear, Newton would have to revise one or two of his laws of physics.... A body in motion will stay in motion unless an opposite force is applied, and when that opposite force is wearing a #75 Patriots jersey, the body in motion suddenly is propelled backwards at a greater force than that body's initial velocity.

BB would say that none of the current players have ever won a playoff game. Several have been on teams that have won a playoff game, however.

There really isn't a "starting" ILB next to Mayo. It has been situational all year, more than any other position. Will Spikes be out there in the same situations in the playoffs? I suspect yes. I don't think BB will punish him for being careless about his ADD drug.
