It's currently the 3rd quarter of the Texas Bowl he has 18 carries 118 yds 2TD 6.5ypc

Most of you are familar with this guy but for those of you that are not he is 6-1 230lbs. Seems to be the measureables everyone is thinking about at RB faster than BJGE bigger and stronger than woodhead.

Having that said, What is the earliest you can see us looking at a RB? If this guy slips to the 2nd or later I want him. I think we should trade up with our 3 assuming the lines has been taken care of by this point. I think he is the total package.

I admit he's been impressive tonight. DraftTek already had him going at #18 before this performance.

I'd consider him an option at 32 or 33. I think Bill will look more around 64 or 77 (highest possible for Vikes pick) for an HB though.

I have the same impression -- I don't think field vision is his strong suit. Bilal Powell is growing on me in comparison. Has a lot of the same strengths, but I like the way he follows blocks, etc.

1st round is def too rich for my blood. I also noticed the field vision concerns at times, but he doesnt remind me of maroney.
Bilal powell seems to lack the burst i think we will be looking for even in a bigger back.

Even still I doubt Powell will be on the board either when the pats start thinking RB. I watched some footage again he def seems tougher to bring down than leshoure even though leshoure is 15 lbs heavier I don't know why.

I like Leshoure a lot. Him and the kid from Cal, Shane Vereen.

I would be happy to take either one in the 2nd, great value. But the fact that there are two of them means I think we can wait into the mid-2nd round to pull the trigger on either one of them.

Given their youth. RB might be one of the strongest positions on our team. We have 2 good players under 25. One who has 1000yrds, dbl digit td's and doesn't fumble. Why can't we get guys like that? No need to replace him. And, we've got the perfect 3rd down back. Danny Woodhead. He's not a cute story any more. The kid can play. I'd like to bring a young backup in to replace Fred Taylor. Not with a 1st or 2nd round pick. And, certainly don't want to trade up using multiple picks on someone to fill that role.3b or 4th round is about the slot to use on that position. I'm fine with Sammy Morris too. If you want to pick a fb in 6th or 7th round fine. But, he probably isn't as good as Sammy.

I'm on record as looking for a Sammy Morris who isn't 34 years old and a UFA. Big back who can do spot duty as a lead ball carrier if necessary, catch some passes, and lead block when the occasion calls for it.

Stanley Havili is one college FB I'd consider well before the 7th, because he seems like he could be more than a traditional FB. Terrific receiver and hard to bring down.

Isn't Aaron Hernandez basically our h-back? He's not a TE in the way use one. If you play a fb, it's to pick up a yard or two on 3rd and short. In most other schemes you'd have to take Hernandez or Gronk out. We've even run Aaron a few times and he's done it well. I just don't think FB is a position in our offense.

Interesting, considering he has quite a few long, long runs (75+ yard runs in three different games this year). I think he accelerates very well. He's sudden, powerful, and always moves forward. I don't know how you can average over 6 yards a carry without some sort of burst. :idontgetit:

Really? Those are the measureables everyone is thinking about? Not me. Give me a 5'10"-5'11" guy who goes 215-220 (Delone Carter, maybe?). Very few of those tall guys have long successful careers. There's Eddie George, and .........

Except two of the only guys in history with 2000 yard seasons were over 6'1, with ****erson measuring in at 6'3 according to NFL.com. Eric ****erson, RB at NFL.com

I like a low center of gravity, too. But bigger backs with good pad level do just fine. LeShoure plays with an incredible degree of suddenness for a 230 lb man. He would be a fine piece in our rotation, although I'm not inclined to spend a 1st/2nd on a rotational guy. Besides, we have our bruiser. Let's grab a change of pace guy who can run in between the tackles, to augment our awesome third down back and our hard charging starter.

Didn't watch USC much with their probation and all this year. But, if he can run the ball too, that's a different story altogether. If he's able to run in a one-back offense, we could use a big guy to bang out the short yardage conversions.

I think most of us are happy with the BJGE/Woodhead tandem, but some depth is a must. We've been a little spoiled with both of those guys staying healthy -- that's a rarity at RB. I'm not expecting any of Faulk, Taylor or Morris back.

I was thinking that too, perhaps BB wants the FB to have certain attributes in order to justify a roster spot and he just hasnt seen it lately, though he did admit that he would have drafted Peyton Hillis if he could do things over. After seeing how much of a productive link in Green Bay's offense "The Coon" is I seriously hope we grab one, Owen Marecic is my binkie in that regard.
