Watching these last few games it appears as though every play the defense is trying to make a big play in the secondary, Either with fumbles, pics, or special teams.
Its almost as if the patriots are turning the ravens of old with the plus -20 differential .

Who is your favorite pats ballhawk?

McCourty! I really want him to get 3 picks against Henne so that he'll be the league leader for interceptions in his rookie season :D, but in all seriousness this guy is a baller and deserves all the recognition he's getting.

I think they go for the ball a little too much sometimes at the cost of their responsibilities. Meriweather was going for the sensational pick last night when he tackled mccourty and gave the Pack an easy TD.

Merriwether has problems. 4th year in the league and still takes bad angles to the ball. Sheesh.

Pats are last in the NFL in forcing fumbles. That tells me they focus on tackling rather than stripping the ball out.

No question they go for the INT and they've been pretty damn good at it.

That was one of the worst plays I've seen by a Patriot this year.

Agreed. Thought I flashed back to Myron Guyton and Ricky Reynolds for a second AKA, "The Lost Tribe of Foxboro"

Not to take away Meriweather's responsibility in the play, but as Synovia pointed out in anotehr thread, Meriweather was in a bad position to begin with because he had to float up to try and cover Chung's man. Chung got beat by the guy after jamming him at the line. So then, in trying to comeback and make a play, Meriweather made a poor decision.

While it's clear that Brandon still has some things to work on, I think that he has big play potential - we've seen multiple interceptions that change games by him. But he has to make sure to be able to play within this system, or he will be gone. And that's too bad, because I think he could be great.

Patriots defense has most interceptions (24) in the NFL

:rocker::rocker::rocker:

Re: Patriots defense has most interceptions (24) in the NFL

somehow this will be turned into a negative...how, only a Dynasty knows but it's a given

Re: Patriots defense has most interceptions (24) in the NFL

Lets hope some of those come in the playoffs. The D will need to step it up.

Re: Patriots defense has most interceptions (24) in the NFL

This is only true because we're up by so much so other teams have to throw so we have more chances to get INTs so this stat doesnt matter and is actually not a meaningful stat for the defense and really only has to do with our single good player brady....

lol jk we rock. Go Pats, including the D!

Was about to say something then I decided to finish reading your post. Well played, sir.

Re: Patriots defense has most interceptions (24) in the NFL

I believe the Patriots have created the most turnovers in the league AND allowed the least turnovers. That's an incredible achievement...I wonder how often it's happened for a full season?

No reason for the jk as this is mostly true. 6 1st half INT's, 18 2nd half...this defense has played better (and more opportunistic) as the season has gone on, and the offense has clicked more the second half of the season as well so it's really only been the second half that we've seen these blowouts by halftime. But thinking back the last few weeks when other teams were forced to go more pass-centric in the 2nd half, that's when we've seen a lot of the INT's.

Re: Patriots defense has most interceptions (24) in the NFL

will need these INT in the playoffs

yeah we should stop getting INTs now and save some for the playoffs :)

when it comes playoff time, teams will have to gamble on some plays, I expect more INTs and pick 6 from this patriots defense.
