Okay ... don't all rush in at once ... make a line and stay orderly.

Why am I nervous that the Steelers may tank this game?

Not a Steeler fan so I am I allowed to call this a tr:eek:p G:eek:me?

The 33rd pick is at stake here ... sheesh I hope the Steelers don't mess this up.

Carolina vs Pittsburgh

...who cares?

I would think the Steelers coaches and players would be very motivated to win this game. Not only do they want to put the memory of last week's loss at home behind them, they also want to prove they can play at a high level without Troy Polamalu. On top of that a loss could mean the difference between a bye week and having to play on the road throughout the playoffs; right now the Steelers and Ravens are both 10-4.

A Pittsburgh win or loss does not affect the Pats since the best the Steelers can do is finish with the same record as New England, and the Pats would stay ahead of them based on the first tiebreaker, head-to-head outcome.

As for Carolina, I just don't see them winning this game at all. With two games left and nobody else at 2-12, at absolute worst that #33 pick maybe turns into #34 or #35 - not the end of the world - but even that is very doubtful.

the difference between 33rd and 34th isn't a big deal

Actually it is if you intend to trade it ... you have all night to discuss it without worrying about who might be picked ahead of your pick.

there is a 20 pt difference between the 33rd and 34th pick

There is only a 10 pt difference between the 31st and 32nd pick ... the 32nd to the 33rd pick.

31 - 600
32 - 590
33 - 580
34 - 560

To Belichick that extra 10 points represents a valuable backup or trade up.

The Steelers are still going up against the ravens for the divisional crown and the #2 seed, the steelers cant afford to lose anymore of their games, if they took this game for granted it would be their doom, Baltimore isnt going to lose another game.

id be more concerned for next week against Atlanta, if the falcons beat the saints this week they will have the #1 seed locked up and have nothing to play for, they are in the same position as the patriots right now, if they win at the bills, Miami is meaningless.

ill also say this, it would be in carolina's best interest to lose this game and get the #1 seed so they can get andrew luck, but dont tell that to jimmy clausen.

And I would have though the gap in point value between #32 and #33 would have been bigger than between #33 and #34 if only because the now expired/voided CBA allowed longer contracts for picks #16-32 than #33-#256.

This is one of 2 huge non Patriots games left in the schedule for Patriot fans that enjoy dreaming up crazy draft scenarios that will never happen.

Fixed.

I bet Belichick doesn't give two craps about draft picks until someone hands him a paper in the offseason telling him where the picks are at.

well he is on record as saying it's only 1/3 of the player acquisition process but it is huge to a strictly managed cap team ... you need those hidden gems to pay the brady's and the Wilfork's.

So you're saying you think the "20 point difference" between 33 and 34 is going to be a huge road block for Belichick in acquiring the players he wants? Everyone knows the Patriots are generally open to trades if the price is right. Their phone will be ringing after the first day regardless if their pick is 33, 34, 35, whatever.

I have 300 reasons to hope Mendenhall and Pitt D play huge tonight. I can't see Pitt not going all out for the division and a bye, so hopefully they throttle them, for fantasy football championship purposes only.

I did not say road block ... I'm talking about opportunity ... just opportunity.

That pick just by itself makes it easier to trade our own #1 for a 2012 #1 + whatever.

I don't see Bill taking 2 #1's ... I think the pick is huge it makes it easier to trade our own #1 IMO.

Perfectly awful matchup on a perfectly awful network. Your gonna lose sleep over a 1 or 2 spot loss for a draft pick? If the steelers even come close to losing this game there would have to be an investigation by the Feds never mind the NFL.

I have Rapistberger and Wallace going tonight in my championship game also. Heres hoping they rip them a new one.

Good luck, guys. Neither my opponent or myself have anyone going tonight, so I hope Santa brings you early Christmas gifts and your players get you a ton of points.

You realize their are actually no such thing as draft position "points" right? They are a rough guideline someone made up. Teams will trade depending on need or situation. Sure they refer to the rough guideline, but that's all.

Tyrell Thuggs rooting for Carolina, I'll be going with Steelers. Sorry Ravens!

Jimmy Johnson made it up.

I am sure BB can find a sucker of a team and get a 2012 1rst round pick.Maybe the bungles or the panthers themselves.
