Cold Hard Football Facts: Brady v. Manning debate finally settled

I've never been much interested in this "debate," and Manning is obviously a GREAT quarterback.

Having said that, enough already. Brady is obviously better.

It's always a joy to visit CHFF. Great article.
Except the Pats are in Buffalo this Sunday. :p

Manning is more of a media darling.. he is charming and funny in front of a camera. And he is one of the best quarter backs ever. Tom Brady has done more with less.. Tom Brady has done more with more. However Tom Brady is not as charming in front of a camera.. and probably not as likable from the national media perspective. These things that have nothing to do with football I think form bias's with the media. Tom Brady has also overcome a catastrophic knee injury.. Carson Palmer has never been the same since it happend to him imo.

I can't believe this was featured on SI. Must have been a mistake; the article will probably be pulled by the morning when the suits figure it out.

i like chff, but articles like this are like clockwork both ways depending on who's having a better season. last year everybody was hanging on manning's sack in the media while people were talking about how brady would never be the same after they lost in the meadowlands if you recall. we'll see how history judges them, theyve both got a half decade or so left in their careers.

To be fair, CHFF has been saying Brady's the better QB since 2005 at least.

yup, which really shows you that CHFF really knows their football a lot better than most people

Brady now has some commercial where he plays this "football professor" or something, and he's completely wooden.

No camera presence whatsoever in endorsements. You know that costs him camera-minutes off-season (CMOS), a key stat to Colts fans.

How about CMOS, and the related Network Minutes Off Field (NMOF?) Let's get some stats in here that matter to Colts fans!

Biased east coast media...

Brady can settle the debate by beating Manning one time if they meet in the playoffs.

CHFF is one of the few sources that's been right about this all along. Bottom line, you can pretty much begin and end the argument by pointing out that Brady is better in domes and better outdoors. The only reason why it even appears close is because Manning plays almost all of his games in great conditions, and Brady plays a lot of outdoor games in crap weather.

As much as really do not care, as this argument can go on and on and on and on.. but the defensive passer rating is very interesting, as it is more a of team stat and quite telling.

• The Packers are No. 1 in DPR (70.32). Brady posted a 110.2 rating against them with 2 TD and 0 INT.
• The Chargers are No. 2 in DPR (72.46). Brady posted an 82.7 rating against them, with 1 TD and 0 INT.
• The Bears are No. 3 in DPR (73.00). Brady posted a 113.4 rating against them, with 2 TD and 0 INT.
• The Steelers No. 6 in DPR (78.16). Brady posted a 117.4 rating against them, with 3 TD and 0 INT.
• The Ravens are No. 7 in DPR (78.20). Brady posted a 69.5 rating against them (lowest of the year), with 1 TD and 2 INT (his last INTs of the season).
• The Jets are No. 10 in DPR (79.94). Brady posted a 148.9 rating in his most recent game against them, with 4 TD and 0 INT.

To put it in perspective our Defensive Passer Rating is 85.5.. and surprisingly that is #19 overall... thought it was worse.

Probably have the 21 team INTs to thank for that; I did think it would be somewhere in the 20s anyways, though, due to the volume of garbage yards that guys like Roethlisberger and Palmer passed for.

was this ever really a debate?

You mean the two Playoff wins he already has over Peyton don't count or something? Or maybe his 14--4 Playoff record vs. Manning's 9--9 doesn't cut it?

Also, if you look at the bendability index they are tied for 24th...all the media cares about are yards when talking about Defense...the other stat is the passer rating differential, which the pats are currently 3rd...this is the "money stat" becuase in this league to win you have to defend the pass and pass well.... this is where our O is covering for the D....I will feel good if we post a mid 70's def passer rating for the next couple of games

I can't understand how people can repost something that's still on the first page here. Takes 30 seconds to scan.
