But hey, it's a dang footaball board. it's not like I'm gonna run into the best and the brightest around here.

easy there Harvard, your stewart little argument of how you're sca sca scared of the "dangerous teams" is not much better

I agree with your argument, but why this?

I guess I don't identify with self edification on the internet.

Oh, you know, how you get all mad at someone's straw man argumentative tactic (somebody attaching something additional to what you've said and then attacking that instead) and then you go at their overall intelligence as a reaction to seeing them choosing to do something like that. I'll admit, my response was excessive. But gez man, the Revis to Merriweather example got me a tad peeved. Anyways, point taken. Yer alrite.

My father went to Harvard. The acorn doesn't fall far from the tree. lol. And yer right, ima always ascared of other teams in the playoffs. Sunday night reminded me of how freaking stressed I get when Tha Pats are slugging it out in a close game.

I'm rooting for Oakland this week. I'd much rather Indy out of the playoffs than a few draft spots. We're still getting a first round pick and a potentially good player.

It amazes me how people think the Pats will steamroll the Colts.

Since 2004, this has not been the case.

I'm curious. Which of those years did the team have SIXTEEN players on injured reserve?

As always, I look forward to this thread.

But, as often, I think you put too much stock in pick placement.

The reality is Belichick could probably care less if his pick is 12 or 15 - if he has a guy targeted in that zone, he'll find a way to get him. So I wouldn't sweat the Raiders losing.

Colts in the playoffs should scare you - they have Peyton Manning.

I agree, too much emphasis on pick placement at this stage of the season. It should all be about playoff seedings involving the teams still alive. If the Chargers and Colts can be eliminated or at least reduced to wild cards, that takes priority.

Your question is an important one but based on the last meeting, the Colts gave this team all it could handle.

Yeah, I'm with Pewsterbaby. At this point KC is realistically not going to make it to the playoffs. They would need to go 2-0, PLUS the Chiefs go 0-2, PLUS the Chargers go 0-2 or 1-1. That's just not going to happen.

I'm still trying to figure this out.

Sure the Colts have had our number since 2004. All the more reason I'd be fine with playing them in the playoffs. I personally WANT to beat good teams en route to a Superbowl, so I'm not scheming up the easiest possible route and hoping for all the other playoff teams starters to get injured. As with every other week, I'll be rooting for the Patriots to win and our future picks to improve.

Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather play the Jags than the Colts. I'm just not as worried about the Colts with all the players they have out for the year. Beyond that, I refuse to jinx my team, and will not predict a win. :)

The OP gave his preferences and the reasons why. Strident commenters are acting as if the OP rooting for a Colts W makes it so. For those of you needing it to be said, it doesn't. Post your rooting interest and why but get them panties untwisted girls.

Pitt, BAL and the NYJ at home are games that I feel good about.

Besides the Colts, KC actually worries me a little....

Good running game
Good QB
Decent to good defense
Good coaches that know the Pats system very well

The problem with KC is that their history vs potential playoff teams is mixed.

I want the Raiders to beat the Colts. I would be devasted if we lost to the Colts in the playoffs, and then have to listen about how great Manning is from the media.
I'd almost bet the farm that Belichick will pick a D-lineman in that spot anyway.Or an offensive lineman.
Draft is so overated its comical.

Not if they have to come to Gillette on Jan 15 or 16 in the cold and probably bad weather.

Thanks.

I think it has been pretty clear from day 1, that I have a higher interest in the picks than most people. After all it was the multiple picks we had that motivated me to start these threads in the first place.

But it has generated an interesting debate on whether we should be scared of a team or not. I seem to be in a the minority in saying we shouldn't be.

I've enjoyed the thread this season.

May I suggest that those really scared of Team X start a Stuart Little thread, maybe "Who I'm Really Truly Scared Of If They Win Week 16 Edition"

FWIW I do agree with those who are concerned about our still inexperienced D facing the better QBs in the playoffs.

KC has TN and OAK at home. You think that they will drop both games?

I'm still trying to figure this out.

Uughh, sorry, typo. Meant to say Oakland is not realistically going to the playoffs because of their record compared to KC's record. Oakland would have to go 2-0 while KC goes 0-2, plus SD goes 1-1 or 0-2 all at the same time.

While it may be mathematically possible for Oakland to make the playoffs, it's not very realistic at all. Right now the Raiders have less than a 3% chance of making the playoffs; even if they win out their probability of making the playoffs is less than 17%. The only team with less of a chance of making the playoffs that has not yet been eliminated is Tennessee.

I would stop worrying about Oakland making the playoffs and therefore making that #1 pick less valuable; just my opinion.

On the other hand TheGodInAGreyHoodie is certainly entitled to his opinion too. At least he has rational logic for his opinions. Plus, these "who to root for" threads have been both entertaining and informative all year long.

I would not mind seeing the Titans come to NE either for the AFCCG or division weekend. I think there would be less Moss jerseys in the stand this time than there was on Halloween.

So many threads here end with this kind of utter nonesense. I also like these weekly threads, but my feeling is the OP probably wouldn't bother if they didn't start a little debate here and there. I would ask what the point of having a messageboard where people come along to express opinions one way or the other is, if when that opinion differs from your own you feel the need to throw out childish comments.

Right, I'm off back to lurking
