Other than enjoyment if they win, does tonight's game mean anything at all?

I suppose it means a little if the Jets lose one more. But assuming the Jets win out, we still need a win in the last two to clinch, I think.

Does anyone have up to date strenth of victory numbers? Can the Jets catch us if we lose tonight and then win only one more?

If we win tonight we only need one of the final two to clinch the number 1 seed. We would be 13-3 and the best the Jets could do is 12-4

In terms of play-off picture, we can't clinch anything. But the game matters, as all December games do for a young team still trying to find its way before the play-offs start.

I think....not 100% sure though....that whether or not we win this game we have strength of schedule advantage. I thought I saw that somewhere but it could have been here.

Are you serious?

Re-read the title of your thread and ask yourself if that was a stupid question.

Can't figure it out? Take a look at the thread below you regarding how a "Jets win and a Pats win" locks up the #1 seed.

And they still have two divisional games left.

1 star rating for you.

If we win tonight and lose the last two to finish 12-4 with the Jest winning out and a 12-4 record, we'll lose on the divisional tiebreaker. The other two games are more important for the playoff seeding. Tonight's game has importance for the aforementioned reasons of player development and such.

...and the fact that a subsequent Jets loss would still result in the #1 seed. Just sayin'...

Not really, because if the Jets win out we clinch the number one seed with a win against Fins/Bills, regardless if we win tonight or not.

If you're asking in terms of playoff position, no. Whether we win or lose this game, just 1 win in the last 2 weeks clinches #1 seed.

But we have to keep our momentum going, so definitely matters in that sense.

But the Pats *might* save themselves some fuss and bother, *if* the Jets are kind enough to lose again, by winning tonight...

Can you please rething your star? You're wrong. A win tonight does not lock up the 1 seed.

If the Patriots win tonight and lose their last two, the Jets can win the division by winning out. But thanks for playing. :)

For what it's worth, I just did the math to figure out the answer to my own question, and the answer is that it's mathematically impossible for the Jets to catch us on SOV.

So, a win against either the fins or the bills and the Patriots get the 1 seed, regardless of what happens tonight.

On the off chance that the Pats lose to both Buf and Mia, and the Jets lose their last two, this game is very important in the Pats' back pocket, am i wrong? Or do the Pats win on Division record?

How could this game possibly NOT be important?

What happens if the Pats lose the next two, and the Jets win out their rest? And lets not act like that's impossible, it's not. Any given sunday.

One star from me too.

We go from "Tonight we can win the AFC East and clinch a bye!" to "Does this game even matter" tonight because the Jets won.

Yet people on this ****-ing board were rooting for the Jets. Disgusting and unbelievable. Not that they're rooting had any impact but just the principle of the whole thing.

The Jesters beat the Steelers. I'm calling you out. You're an idiot!

Until I read this thread, I was a firm believer in the saying "there is no such thing as a dumb question."

I will never utter that line again. There is such a thing as a dumb question.

It's true though, this game really DOESN'T matter if the Jets win out.
