I don't know how much doubt there is that McCourty has been playing at a Pro Bowl level. However, is he going to get the recognition he deserves? Also, what other Patriots might make it?

I think we can all agree that no Patriot will actually PLAY in the Pro Bowl, though :rocker:

He's playing just as good as any other CB in the league

I doubt theres one person on this board who can honestly say they cheered when they heard McCourtys name on draft day... esp with the like of Dez Bryant still on the board

Now if we can only squeeze a little production out of Butler!

I'd love to use Oakland pick to grab P.Peterson in the draft. Bill has always said Ed Reed is the best player in the NFL, i think he can mold Peterson into a similar player!

How many times are you going to post?

McCourty deserves to be on the roster, though as the OP said, he shouldn't be playing.

But if he doesn't make it, I don't care really. The whole thing is a fricken joke. They start accepting votes before the halfway point of the season, conclude voting before the season is even done, so no matter what you do in the last two weeks when teams are pushing for the play-offs, it's irrelevant. Michael Vick is leading the way. Peyton Manning is having his worst year in a while but still being named to the roster. Just a joke on so many levels.

Speak for yourself. I liked the pick. I was just surprised we made it since passrusher was such a big need. But BB was right as usual. I really don't see anyone I'd want more than McCourty with that pick right now. Except for Suh but he wasn't available that late. :) BTW I didn't want Dez Bryant.

I'm not worried about the Pro Bowl. They will come once he gets more name recognition. Right now I think McCourty would definitely be on the all-rookie team and in consideration for ROTY honors.

I'll admit I was pissed when we drafted him.

I wanted a RB as I really thought TB needed a stud to take some of the pressure off him (thinking was Terrell Davis and what he did for Elway) as he approached his mid-30s. OLB was 1b.

With that said, after reading up on McCourty and the way he has played and rethinking how crappy the pass defense had been these past two years, I was fine with the pick as it made sense to me.

This reminds me of the Merriweather for Pro Bowl thread last year. The kid has done well but he's not there yet.

What?
Yes, he is.
Merriweather probably didn't deserve it, but he went as a backup. Devin deserves it.

He has 6 interceptions
67 tackles
14 passes defended
And he's a rookie who's pretty much been a shutdown corner.

I liked the pick, and would have been very upset if it were Dez Bryant. (or Odrick, Hughes or Kindle too)

He definitely belongs in the Pro Bowl. I've voted for him a few times.

He is playing like a top CB in the NFL. He should be a pro bowler in 2010 but I don't think he gets enough votes. The pro bowl is a joke anyway.

He doesn't have much of a shot. The Pro Bowl is nothing more than a vote for the Homecoming King and Queen. It is a popularity contest and McCourty doesn't have the name recognition.

I certainly didn't want Bryant, but I have to admit I would have cheered louder for Kyle Wilson than McCourty. Mea culpa, Devin.
