If the Colts lose this, I don't see them making the playoffs. Best they could finish is 9-7 and I don't see SD finishing worse than that. Ravens have the other WC spot. Only thing that could help them is the Chiefs losing 2 of 3, don't think that will happen.

David Garrard talked all that **** on twitter towards Manning, it'll be up to him to back it up tomorrow. He better!

The NFL switched the rotation of who played whom in the AFCW - and also the NFCW as I recall. Reason for that was to avoid the situation they had in the past where two teams from other divisions would have to travel the furthest (at SD, at Oakland) and two other teams from the same division would have much shorter distances to travel (at KC, at Denver).

Also, supafly, thanks for pointing that out - that (at Oakland) is what I was thinking and meant to say.

really, i dont know about that. i think next time pats play AFCW, it will be SD and OAK in foxboro and den/kc on the road .Buff and miami will have the reverse.

It took me a little while, but I did find a couple things that seem to verify the schedule rotation has changed slightly.

Learned something new on scheduling - NFC West Blog - ESPN

THE NFL ANNOUNCED that in future years, teams will travel to either Kansas City and San Diego OR to Oakland and Denver when playing the entire AFC West, and to San Francisco and Arizona OR to Seattle and St. Louis when playing the entire NFC West.

It does make sense to do it this way so that teams don't have situations like the Pats did in '08 when they played four games on the west coast, or like the situation I mentioned in '08 where two AFCE teams have to travel to CA twice, while two other AFCE teams don't have to travel to CA even once.

Actually, it's only been 2 years since there wasn't a Brady vs Manning game, which was '08 and Matt Cassel was the QB.

oh.....haha I was actually referring to a Patriots v Colts matchup overall, just used the wrong terms explaining it. Your right though. lol The Patriots vs the Colts, middle of the season matchup. The Sunday night primetime games in Indi but when in Foxborough on CBS. lol

Just thought I'd start a thread for tomorrow's game with the Jags and the Colts. It's a long shot, but I'm pulling for the Jags. Indy fans and Manning need a slice of humble pie this year by missing the playoffs. They need to know how we felt in '08 when we wanted a second shot at the SB and never got the opportunity! Go Jags! Go Pocket Hercules!!!:rocker:

honestly the jags are at this moment almost every yr with all the mediots getting on the bandwagon with the same old theory of "they can run the ball on the colts" only ultimately to crap the bed. i have zero confidence they will win tomorrow. they will not be able to run the ball initially ,manning will get ahead and gerrard will throw a pick at some point.

Agreed. If every Jags fan read that, they could save themselves 3 hours tomorrow, which could be better spent drinking away their tears.

If the Colts don't win out, chances are they don't go to the playoffs even as a wild card so its either division or bust. Secondly if the Colts don't win the division it will be the first time in what, at least 4 or 5 years since there WASN'T a Brady vs Manning game. I don't know about other people but I think that is one of the best rivalries to date and to not have a game like that played, just seems very un-natural. I know it will be a challenge but nonetheless it's an awesome came to get ready for AND to spectate.

In spending all my speculative thoughts on the playoffs and the 2011 draft picks, I forgot completely about schedule implications next year. Barring some weird change like for an 18 game schedule, the current plan is to have the AFC East "non-common" games be the AFC North and South. If the standings hold as they are now, this means:

Pats: Jags, @Steelers
Jets: Colts, @Ravens

Which would you rather have? Given the Pats history of struggling with the Colts and Ravens, I'll gladly take David Garrard and playing a Steelers team the Pats have traditionally owned, even on the road.

I never root for the Colts however I'm in the camp that would like to see a Manning vs Brady game in the 2011 season plus if the Colts end up the 4 seed I cannot see them coming into Foxboro and winning a game in January. Thus bounding them from the playoffs is gold. Although I'll always believe Brady > Manning there is that Bird vs Magic aspect and having lived though that I won't take any game vs the two for granted. I want as many games as possible between the two before it's over.

I am rooting for the Colts. But only mildly. This one of those...who cares games.

Why? I can't fathom rooting for that whiny bunch of quitters who get fawned over by the media and get protected by phantom calls.

I feel sad for Kontra then

It would suck if there's no pats-colts next year especially since it would be in foxboro too. I'm gonna root like crazy for the jags though.

I believe they go to OAK, not HOU, but your point is well taken nonetheless.

I do not see as complicated a view on it, if IND wins tomorrow, they have a very good shot at winning the division, and hold the tie-breaker over JAX.

If IND loses tomorrow, there's no way they're getting a WC at 9-7 (imo). The WC likely will come from a 10-6+ team. I don't personally see a 9-7 team making it in this year, but your point is valid, as they would still be alive.

Respects.

The final WC spot is probably limited to Indy, NYJ, SD, and KC. I would say KC wins the division and so it is very possible that those three teams finish 9-7, the only way I see a 10-6 team winning the 6th seed is if the Jets win a game (most likely vs BUF) but we shall see.

"What is behind me, no matter." - some Italian race car driver sometime.

I don't care about the Colts.

Hopefully the Jags put out a giant can of Fabreeze and rid the NFL playoffs of a Coltish stench.
