Brady has the rings, but not the stats?

Also, whatever Belichick was doing with those cameras deserves condemnation. Since that day, Brady has gone from being pretty darn good to arguably the most dominating sports figure in professional sports, with that ridiculous ratio. The team is average 6 points more per game on offense. They now win four out of every five games, rather than three out of four. Damn you, BB!!!!

If he played in a dome or warm weather, he'd be the GOAT, hands down. To me, he is anyways. Manning can have all the statistical advantages a dome and warm weather afford him, but unless he can add some more rings, he shouldn't be included in the GOAT discussion at all.

Agreed. It just annoys me how some people point to certain stats, which are often awful indicators. Like yards. Obviously the QB should throw for some yards. But if it's too high, it often indicates the team was trailing for a lot of the season. In fact, Brady's one of the few QBs that I've noticed with a winning record in 300+ yard games because he gets them in the context of the game, and we often use short passes as an extension of the running game. But most QBs rack up those huge yardage games in losses, yet that's one of the first numbers people point to when evaluating QBs.

Anyone who uses pure yardage to make the evaluation needs to defend Testaverde > Montana. If they can't do that, pure yardage doesn't hold up.

Actually, it depends on what your cutoff is; Damon Huard had 11 TDs and 1 INT in 244 attempts in 10 games in 2006.

I agree 100%, but that's how the media tends to look at it.

Going back to Brady's incredible season, the 4 INTs is amazing, but look at how he threw them. 2 were forced passes to Moss against the Jets in the first game. One was a Hail Mary against Baltimore, with another pick in that game as he adjusted to life without Randy.

Not blaming Moss here, just saying that since we adjusted the offense away from him, Brady hasn't thrown a single pick. Branch and Welker haven't just been on the same page with Tom so much as they're reading along every word together.

I find it funny that as recently as 3 months ago people were speculating that Brady was reaching the decline phase of his career. How does Brady respond? By putting up a statistical season that will rank in the top 10 years by a QB ever.

IMO, this has been Brady's best year. He proved in 2001 that he could be an effective game manager with no-name skill position talent, and now he has proven he can be a statistical monster with no-name skill position talent. He's proving that he can win without an elite defense (or even a very good one).

I'm convinced that Brady will be popularly regarded, even by media, as the GOAT before he retires. We're watching (on a performance level, not a celebrity level) the Michael Jordan of football.

So true. Even in the snow and wind at Chicago, It looked like a seven on seven practice with Branch and Welker. Amazing.

Very amazing stat.. and the mediots seem to favor how many total yards, which has nothing to do with effectiveness, field position(turnovers) or a balanced attack.
