OT: Jets suspend Sal Alosi indefinitely

What a crock. Since when is a strength coach dictating anything? I never thought the 'lineup" was planned. But now that the evidence is in that it was, this had to be an order from the ST coach or higher.

Fair is fair. Dock the Jets a First Round draft pick, and fine the Team $750,000, that they agitated for as punishment just for the filming in the wrong location. What goes around, comes around...

Wow.

I wonder how much they are paying him to keep his mouth shut.

All one has to do is look at the screen stills to see that Rex Ryan is standing 5 feet to the left and in back of the gauntlet. He didn't "hear" anything when the S+C Assistant "took over" and directed and positioned personnel on the sideline right in front of the HC???????

Who believes this???????????

The New York Jets have suspended Sal Alosi indefinitely after the team got "new information" that the strength and conditioning coach "instructed" five players to stand in a wall before he tripped a Dolphins player on Sunday.

Before Babelfish's NFL coverup translator:
The New York Jets* have hidden Sal Alosi indefinitely after the media finally reported on the obvious fact that the "strength and conditioning coach" (aka Rex Ryan) instructed five players to "trip a fish" player on Sunday.

Roger Jetdell will never allow that to happen to his beloved Jets.

The New York Jets have suspended Sal Alosi indefinitely after the team got "new information" that the strength and conditioning coach "instructed" five players to stand in a wall before he tripped a Dolphins player on Sunday.

Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum announced the punishment after Alosi was suspended for the rest of the season and fined $25,000 on Monday.

"Over the last day as we continued our investigation we discovered some new information," Tannenbaum said. "The players at the Miami game were instructed by Sal to stand where they were forcing the gunner in the game to run around them. Based on that new information we've suspended Sal indefinitely, pending further review.

Tannenbaum said that as soon as the team learned the new information, the Jets contacted NFL vice president of football operations Ray Anderson.

"They support this initial decision that we presented to them," Tannenbaum said. "The league is going to look into this as well, as well they should. Once we get all the information we'll make a final determination."

Tannenbaum was clear in what happened.

"Specifically when Miami was punting they were asked to stand there by him," he said.

Here's the thing: we are to believe that a strength and conditioning coach decided to do this on his own? Not the special teams coach, not a coordinator, not the head coach - and this "new" information only comes out after all the videos and stills that included their head coach right behind them, and then his denial of being aware of what they were doing?

Or maybe this is a case of Alosi first being thrown under the bus, and just as he was getting up the bus backed up and ran him over again.

Goodell: And when it went bad, you cut these guys *loose!* You coerced the doctor...
Capt: Your honor!
Goodell: You doctored the log book!...
Capt: *Darn it, Roger!*

Judge: *Consider yourself in Contempt!*
Goodell: *Coach Rex Ryan, did you order the Code Red?*
Judge: You *don't* have to answer that question!
Rex Ryan: I'll answer the question!
[to Goodell]
Rex Ryan: You want answers?
Goodell: I think I'm entitled.
Col. Jessep: *You want answers?*
Goodell: *I want the truth!*

Rex Ryan: *You can't handle the truth!*

How much do you wanna bet that Alosi gets a six figure job at Johnson and Johnson.

It's almost always the cover-up that does you in, more so than the actual "crime".

A fish rots from the head.......

Phalanx-gate coverup!!!

To tell you the truth, I find this whole story overblown (I felt that way about Spygate too). But is sure fun watching the Jets squirm and listening to Holier than Thou Jets fans try to explain how this cheating wasn't really cheating.

The story was going away, all they had to do was wait it out, now they bring it out to the front of the news again? The hell

Why is he being suspended for this? I understand suspending him for tripping the guy, but how is telling your players to form a wall out of bounds on the sideline against the rules?

I’m assuming that information would not have led to his indefinite suspension (by his own team no less) unless the wall was created with the purpose he used it for.

It's also fun to read around about this on other team messageboards....lots of hate for the Jets out there.

Its against the rule that specifically states the coaches and substitutes aren't allowed to impede the movement of players. They directly planned to get in his way.

You're supposed to get a 15 yard unsportsmanship penalty for "Palpably unfair acts"

The coaches have a specific area they need to be in, away from the playing field, and saying their lining up (but staying completely within) that area is impeding opposing players is going way too far. The wall was legal as long as it stayed an immobile wall.

The suspension was for tripping, the lengthening of the suspension was for lying about it.
