Forget League MVP, the outrage should be over Comeback Player of the Year

I read yesterday that Vick is a shoe in for that award...WTF?? Vick was in the league last year and played some significant minutes. This is not his comeback year.

Wes rewrote the book on healing from an ACL and is close to catching another 100 balls...why isn't he being mentioned for this award? Heck, even Greg Camarillo would be a better candidate. He came back from Cancer.

Vick's having a great year, but why are people (analysts) trying to shoe horn him into every award out there, I'll never know.

As far as we know, Vick has completely rehabilitated himself and is performing very well.

Obviously should the award just go to injured players? Just don't know...

How they can compare comeback from incarceration with comeback from disease/injury is a mystery to me. I understand Vick is the media darling this year and is clearly winning the popularity contest but he shouldn't even be in the race. The dog killing debacle was a mess of his own making. You can't say the same for disease and injury.

It isn't even Vick's first year back, either.

Maybe the problem is that Wes doesn't constantly give one-on-one sitdown interviews to talk about how hard it's been to come back from his injury. And he's made coming off an injury to his ACL look so easy, it's almost like it never happened.

It's a shame, but we can at least take consolation in the fact that Wes Welker probably doesn't give two shots about being Comeback Player.

I know what you meant, but I'm saying that numbers isn't the end all, be all to this award.

I don't think there's ever been a player to win the award who hasn't either seen a drastic increase in his stats (usually after a drastic decrease in them because of losing playing time), or missed a significant amount of time.


Welker hasn't missed any time, and his stats from this year are worse than last year. I'm not saying he shouldn't be in the conversation, but I have a hard time seeing the voters seeing the injury as "serious enough" if he didn't miss any (regular season) games.
