Re: Lomnardi on the Pats

Nice.. Lombardi is pretty much always a good read.

i love how lombardi is a pats homer 24/7 no matter what, LOL

its fine, because the pats are really the ONLY team you can always be homerish about and truly get away with it

Re: Lomnardi on the Pats

I like Lombardi but if he's gonna give Vick his vote for Comeback POY because he found his niche on a pretty talented team in the lesser conference two years after serving his time with the Feds - he's not nearly as smart as he thinks he is... He's two years removed from a self inflicted career injury. And he hasn't even played a whole season. Welker on the other hand allowed the Patriots to offload Moss and bring back Branch and develop two rookie TE's and become this balanced all weather team no one wants to pick against anymore by coming back from season ending ACL surgery in the pre season...

Lombardi might be a Pats homer to a degree but he is a very smart football guy. I particularly enjoy when Simmons has him on his podcats.

I wish I could drive in snow the way the Patriots play in the snow :/

Lombardi was SPOT ON in his analysis of the patriots D at the BEGINNING of the year. He said the Pats D would struggle for the first 8 games but was talented and would improve a lot by the end of the season. Meanwhile, every other analyst predicted doom and gloom because our D allegedly sucked.

Or to quote another sage observer ;) after game 4 against the Dolphins:

This is the team we all expected to see. No, not the team that kicked the Dolphins' butts all over the field in the second half. the team that has played wildly inconsistently but managed to come away with 3 wins in 4 games.

The most common refrain before the start of the season was that this team had a lot of talent but was super young and inexperienced, and would be inconsistent enough to give us heart attacks in the early going. But hopefully they'd pull together enough wins to be positioned for a strong playoff run as they start to mature and gel later in the season.

So far so good, eh?

He was just a little off on most of the rest of the league. He has a affinity for all things BB because he worked under him in Cleveland. That is his insight value. I often wonder what mediots and even league insiders think they are seeing. His blue chip AFC Superbowl picks were SD, Indy and Miami... We were lumped in to the redchip potential playoff contender heap with Baltimore, Pittsburgh, the JETS and Tenn...
