what do you all think of Mayo's prospects for this?

I'm asking because it does not seem as though there is any defensive player who is having the kind of year that would shoo him in for this award

Mayo is having a Pro Bowl kind of season, but don't think he's having a Defensive Player of the Year type season.

I understand, but there is no defensive player having a lights-out season.

samuel lead with 7 INTs

cameron wake leads with 14 sacks

mayo and number of tackles is the only stat that is setting itself apart from the rest.

Ndomukong Suh, defensive tackle Detroit, is having a monster year.

The gap is narrowing for tackles now too (down to 12 I think?).

Besides, ILB almost never win DPOY unless they have the "big play" numbers to go along with high tackles (Ints, sacks, FF, etc.)

I'd say it would be someone on one of the other division leaders, someone in Pittsburgh, Chicago, maybe even Green Bay (who has given up the least points). Since our defense didn't have a game where they gave up under 14 points until our 12th game, I doubt someone from that defense will get it. Peppers, Matthews, one of those guys probably gets it.

Vince Wilfork.

That is all.

I think possibly Wake or Matthews.

Cameron Wake, if I had to guess.

He might not even win the DROY

I think Suh is a lock for DROY. McCourty will get some votes, But Suh is a wrecking ball, he's what they thought he would be. Doing the same things he did in college, which is rare for someone on the D-Front to go from dominating college to dominating the NFL.
