Not being a chicken little, or a pessimistic pete.. But some people have to admit.. What in the world was Tom Brady doing throwing on the last 2 drives of the game???? Peppers was starting to get to him, there is no reason to have him in there to throw .. Yes its 60 min, but it is one play away from having this magic season turn into a pumpkin at midnight... I think let hoyer in there, or just run the ball there... this is not 07 no records need to be broken.., lets win the next 3 , get a bye and focus now on a prize, that alot of people including me, never thought would happen with this team....

This team is practicing playing 60 minutes of football. Not 48 or 50. And that includes the QB. How many times exactly has Brady gone down hurt in the last few minutes of a blowout? Not that it couldnt potentially happen. But I dont want this team even thinking about being careful. Just do what they do, keep their foot on the gas, and let the chips fall where they may.

I think Tom loOoOooOooOoOooves to play in the snow. He wanted to be out there. He's a bit willful and headstrong sometimes and I'm sure the coaches have a hard time benching someone with this much passion against their will. They were all out there just having a good time in a rare snow game. I see this as a little like dad (BB) having to enforce a curfew on his kids (Brady & co).

"ok, just 5 more minutes...."
"....ok, just 5 more minutes...."

I'm with you.

My attitude was different prior to Wes getting hurt last season. Before then I would have said no, keep playing.

But since losing Wes in a mostly meaningless game last season, my tune has changed for sure.

In fact, If we win the next 2 we get the number 1 seed. I say rest the key personel week 16 if that is the case.

Pats are DOOMED

Part of it is keeping the team happy. Brady has stated many times that he doesn't like watching the game from the sidelines even in a blowout. He wants to be on the field playing the game.

And while coaches do at times need to limit greedy egotistical players who demand that they play a greater portion than is best for the team. This the exact same thing as Randy Moss crying about not getting the ball enough. Brady is the offense. If letting him play in a blow out keeps the greatest Quarterback since Joe Montana happy and benching a QB that gives us a hometown discount makes him mad. Then let him play and keep him happy.

Jim Cadwell lost the Colts locker room when they lost to the Jets on purpose. It may very well be why Peyton hasn't extended his contract. Peyton was reported quite upset. Wouldn't surprise me if Peyton demand that Cadwell get fired as a part of resigning and demand that Herm Edwards be hired. Herm, "plays the game to win, hello"

Also how the eff, can Bill Belichick stand in front of the team and say, "we play for 60 mins. Not 45 mins, not 59 mins but 60 mins" If half the games Tom Brady is sitting on the bench for the last quarter?

Yes thank you for bringing that up.. Wes Welker getting hurt in houston seems like a long time ago, but this is something that could happen... I understand that Brady wants to play 60 min, but the battle was won, there is a war yet to be waged... Just dont want to see something happen when the game was in hand...

I also understand that too, I dont want the Pats pull a colts and give up on the rest of the year when they have everything clinched.. when the game is won, i rather see a solid running game and bryan hoyer, then Brady in the spread and falling on the snowy turf getting a freak inj...

If we decide to pack it up in the final moments then we'd look like the Colts. This is Patriots football!

COULDN'T. AGREE. MORE.

I know there's all this talk of "we're supposed to play 60 minutes of football," but come on. That is NOT what BB means about playing 60 minutes. And if it were, he wouldn't have played Hoyer at all. Nope, #12 needs to be out of that game with 9 or 10 minutes remaining, IMO. It not only helps avoid injury, it also preps Hoyer IN CASE OF injury to Brady down the road, this season or otherwise.

Should we stop holding practices too? The heart and sole of the Jets defense (and possibly why they are 9-4 and not 11-2) went down in practice.

I think it also shows that Brady is no more important than other players, now before you all jump ugly, everyone knows as Brady's health goes so does the Patriots season, but it is the perception that if the starting RB's, WR's, DL, LB's etc can stay out there why can't the starting QB? Yes I understand a Tom Brady isn't a dime a dozen out there but neither are a Vince Wilfork or a Jerod Mayo.

lol

Didn't you just answer your own question?

I believe there is a reason Brady offers a very Belichick response of "we missed some opportunities" to blowout wins. Brady demands perfection so when handed a very different offensive unit than the one he had in previous years views these reps as a chance to build a team that functions closer to his expectations. As you cannot practice a game environment, he uses every chance he gets.

As good as the offense is functioning, it still has only been together for a few games. Given the time required to make all the pieces work as they should, Brady is trying to advance development faster than would be expected. Let him do it and bring the best the Pats have into the playoffs as there really may not be a next year.

No. We won 11 games with Matt Cassel.

I like our odds better playing Hoyer at QB than playing like the castrated Colts after Cadwell cut off their balls during the Jets game. They went from being the Indianapolis Colts to the Indianapolis Geldings.

Agree with this but I think there is a larger point. The Bears are also in a dogfight for the division and playoffs. If Peppers and/or Urlacher go down, they are in trouble. I believe they were still in the game in the 4th quarter. You put the backups in against the Bears' ones and bad things can happen.

As long as the opposing defense keeps their starters in the game, keep playing. If the opposing defense sits their key players, get Brady out and sit on the ball.

Brady could have slipped and broken his leg walking out of the shower. I don't have a problem with them playing their starters. We have watched the Colts start to rest their starters too much at the end of the season and come out in the playoffs cold year after year.

I trust Bill that he knows what he is doing.

While this may be true, it doesn't change the fact that the poster did respond to his own question within the same post. I just found it sort of ... odd. But maybe what you are saying is what they meant to say.

I would've liked to see Hoyer get more gametime reps in the snow. Maybe for the whole 4th quarter or even some of the 3rd quarter too.

Lets not forget about Brady ignoring instructions from the sidelines to take a knee and throwing the TD to Branch before the half.

Belichick is losing his QB. :(
