I don't usually post mediot stuff but this one was so stupid and spiteful I half laughed and half shook my head in disgust.

Marshall Faulk: The Bears will beat the Patriots today because this is the first time Lovie Smith and Mike Martz have been on the same field as Bill Belichick since Super Bowl 36. This is a revenge game for the Bears. It's personal.

That has to be the stupidest and most personally slanted analysis I've ever heard. There isn't one single player on the Bears from that Rams team and Martz and Smith aren't bitter like Faulk is. What an idiot.

Marshall: Well Rich, you know as a reporter im supposed to be unbiased. but im not. im a hatin' fool. i hate the patriots. i hate them. thats why they will lose

Its okay if you are a little biased because of the team you played for, as long as it doesn't cloud your judgment. Bruschi has done a pretty good job of being unbiased for ESPN. I also have a new respect for Merrill Hoge, he played for the steelers, and you could see his bias in 2007 when he would continually pick the patriots to loose week after week. But he has changed and no longer holds his grudge against them. Marshall needs to grow up and get over it. I can imagine Tomlinson will be a mirror image of Marshall if he gets a analyst job at one of the major sports outlets when he retires.

Faulk should have a disclaimer before he gives his weekly reason why the Pats will lose that informs the viewers that he is going to say something ridiculously stupid. There are dozens of legitimate arguments to say the Bears wins this game and Faulk picked a trivial non-factor. Both Smith and Martz have faced the Pats several times since the Super Bowl game.

But then again, they say revenue is a dish best served cold. In this case, frozen solid.

Marshall is just a sad figure. When was the last time he actually had some insight into a game any game, that was not just the obvious?
A true waste of space!

I think you mean revenge not revenue but I would like some revenue right now ;)

Its always personal for MF, how many times has he be wrong picking against us this year, seems every week theres a MF thread picking us to lose.

I hope the others laughed at him. I remember before SB42 when Tom Jackson went on his rant and CHris Berman followed up with, 'Tommy ... let it go."

(This pick was also mentioned in the media picks thread, where maybe it should be merged into. Not that it doesn't deserve highlighting...)

That's what I meant. That's what I get when I am doing some work and posting here at the same time. I think I should call Brandon Spikes and see if I can get his remaining adderall.

Why do people even care what Marshall Faulk has to say? We all know he's a biased fool.

I read this as 'They beat us in the SB so GO BEARS'

He thinks they have a better rushing attack. I guess he can't read either. Pats have 100 yards more total. And better apc 4.3 compared to 3.9. Hmmm.. I say we see a lot of our 3 TE package and we will be able to run. Right at Julius Peppers. Alge Crumpler is going to beat on him in the running game. Who has the better screen/short passing game? That would be the pats. In fact. If we get ahead in this game. It will be a blowout. If it's even/steven in the first half. Brady/BB will figure what can work in awful wind conditions. Like the Buffalo game 2 years ago when Cassel beat them.

As I said earlier in this thread, who else thinks LT is going to get a job at one of the major sports outlet and be an exact copy of Marshall in regard to the Patriots when doing the analysis. We don't need two Marshall...Please no!

There are a lot of legit reasons that the Bear could win but not Marshalls. It would be more realistic say something like the weather and the short week and the away game and difficulty throwing all work in the Bears favor but BB somehow has a knack for overcoming the odds.

I wouldn't call it caring per say as much as partially amused and partially confused.

When Faulk actually talks about the X's and O's he's pretty good. He was describing how offensive lineman set up their blocks and how they gain proper leverage and how the running back needs to see what they are doing to find the running lanes. It was one of the most well done and informative clips I've seen any ex-player do. He should do more of that and less commentating on teams.

Not only is this poor analysis, but it's not even a true statement! The Patriots played the Rams in 2004 when Mike Martz was the head coach and they played the Bears in 2006 when Lovie Smith was head coach. Of course, revenge must not have been on either coach's mind, since the Patriots won both of those games (both on the road).

How is this guy still allowed to comment on the Patriots

I hate to steal from Edward Norton, but super bowl 36 was 9 years ago Marshall. MOVE THE **** ON

Faulk said it is the first time Martz and Smith have faced the Pats TOGETHER which is true. I just don't get the logic that they weren't seeking revenge when they faced the Pats without the other guy over the last decade only to wait to be re-united to get revenge for the game almost 9 years after the fact.
