Could/Should game be changed to Monday Night?

The Monday night game (if played) can't be seen outside NY and MN unless you have Sunday Ticket. So they did lose a good chunk of national audience.
Are you sure about that? In the past when they moved a Sunday game to Monday night ( Ravens or Chargers IIRC) you couldn't get it outside the local area, even if you had Sunday ticket. The contract states "only games played on Sunday"....

You do realize that the weather then was not considered to be a blizzard, yes??

Why do people insist on trying to compare two significantly different scenarios like they have any bearing on one another?
I see no Blizzard Warning for Chicago.

I don't care about the ratings but being from out of town (like you) I wouldn't be able to see the game if they moved it to tomorrow. Seeing the Patriots game live (on TV) is a big deal. As for safety, Chicagoans know how to drive in the snow, I would be surprised if there was anything more than normal fender benders.

You'd be able to see the game tomorrow if you had DirecTV.

As for Chicagoans knowing how to drive in the snow, I'm sure you just made their day.. :D

But if the state issues a no-travel advisory because of the snow, then what? I mean, people are acting like that didn't happen in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Two states that ALSO are bad weather states.. They pulled their plows off the roads because it was so bad.. Yes, they are back out today, but they'd pulled them off yesterday for their safety..

And, personally, I'd rather that neither team or team/stadium employees be in a fender bender since even a "normal one" can lead to someone dying..

That's what this link says (Edit: I don't think this site is official, but it's usually correct):
2010 week 14 - Everything you need to know about sports on television - the506.com
NOTE: This game has been moved to Monday night, and is currently scheduled to air on WNYW New York, KMSP Minneapolis and KXLT Rochester MN ONLY. It can be seen on Sunday Ticket elsewhere.

Dude, they are only getting 2 inches of snow by 3pm today. The only reason for severe weather warnings is the 30 mph winds. I'm pretty sure folks in "the Windy City" might be somewhat accustomed to that.

Minnesota got 24+ inches over a 24 hour time frame. It's a little different!

I have DirecTV, the Vikings-Giants game is on Fox only in the local areas. They can't mess with ESPN's ratings. Like most, I have watched every game of the Pats live for a LONG time, since '96 for me. I'm not going to try to find a way on the computer just because of snow especially when I've paid DirecTV for all the Patriots games.

I can remember not too long ago, (winter of 2000 in New England) when they said we were only going to get 2-3 inches of snow and we got 30.. So, you'll forgive me if I take what they predict with a grain of salt..

As for the people in the "windy cindy" being accustomed to that, I'm pretty sure that People in Wisconsin and Minnesota are used to getting 18+ inches of snow in a 24 hour period. Yet they still closed roads and pulled their plows in..

Actually, no. The Vikings/Giants game will also be shown on DirecTV as part of Sunday Ticket.

And, no. You didn't pay DirecTV for all the Patriots games. You paid them to watch the broadcasts provided by the NFL. That just so happens to include the Broadcasts of the Patriots. I wish they had an Ala Carte thing where you could just select the Pats. I think that most people would be willing to pay $5 a game or such to watch just the Pats vs. $300 to watch all the games..

If Uncle Rico's link is right then I'm wrong on the DirecTV thing, I'll be curious if it works out that way. Regardless, there's people who have made plans for the game and it should be played as scheduled if possible. There's a reason the flexing can happen for Sunday Night not Monday Night.

Actually, no. It is pretty rare to get that much snow that fast. It happens many once every few years to my recollection. Usually a Minnesotan blizzard stretches out for 2 or 3 days for that amount of snow.

As for false news reports, they usually know what is coming the same day of the forecast. I could understand being skeptical a few days ago, but they can see the weather right now with their own eyes.

wow, how the internet has ruined football ... this is insane .. a little weather, and everyone is going into the fidel position .. ohhh nnoooo the winds ..

I did pay that money to watch the Patriots games (as a subset to others) other than the ones that are otherwise on national TV. Sunday Ticket guarantees I can see all the games, again, I hope I am wrong on the NYG-Minn game.

As for ala carte, I am happy paying $300 for just the Patriots, the others are a bonus. Dividing $300 by 13 (assuming a few national games), that's $20-$25 a game which is less than parking at an NFL stadium. $300 isn't cheap but it's still an incredible deal.

@IScullion unless you are in ny or minn you get only MNF game. If you have DirecTV package then you get Vikes/Giants, too

The same can be said about mega supermarket shelf clearing storms that never come into being.

Who said anything about false news reports? All I said is that I don't generally put any credence in what the weather men/women predict because they are just as wrong as they are right.

As for what they are seeing now, all they can say is, "Yes, it's snowy. Yes, It's windy." They have no idea how much snow will fall. Nor whether it will get worse or better over the next few hours..

Oh. One other thing, Haley. When I posted this, I hadn't heard any updated reports. The last one I heard was 8+ inches of snow, and a Blizzard warning in effect. I know it's been downgraded to a winter storm warning, but that just means that the gusts won't top 45 and the sustained winds won't be above 30..

lol, it's okay mate. A bit windy to be sure, but nothing they don't see fairly often.

No worries. Everything is going to be just fine.

Oh.. How the internet has ruined reading comprehension and spelling..

What is a FIDEL Position?? Did you mean FETAL position???

Also, we're not talking about just winds. Maybe, before posting, you should bring yourself up to speed on the topic.. Makes you look a lot less foolish..

What was your goal in regards to my spelling mistake on a message board?

Umm.. Gee.. Clarification maybe?? I mean, do you really expect everyone to know wtf you are talking about when you don't even come close to spelling a word correctly? It does change the whole context...

You clearly jumped into this thread in an attempt to show me up. Yet, all you did was make yourself look foolish, imho, since you clearly didn't read the thread prior to putting up your post..
