Metrodome collapsed

Can they really play this game Monday night even? Sounds like they need a different venue.

Anything to keep Favres streak going!!

Isn't that one of those poofy roofs, teflon or something? If so, I'm thinking not a tremendous problem. Unless, it keeps snowing, that is.

I guess it didn't collapse exactly (according to my mom lol). She said it is just torn or something.

No injuries reported but witnesses say stadium now looks like a "big bowl of sugar"!

No Giants/Vikings football today or probably tomorrow unless there is an alternate venue.

OUCH

Damn, I work with alot of folks who have season tickets there and am (was?) going to be going to the game next Monday night as I'll be there for work. Will have to see what happens with that. Glad no one was hurt!

sweet they just increased there HFA by a factor of 100%. No one can play in Min. when its this cold.

Giants stadium? Wouldn't be the first time.

Why not play it in KC, the Giants are already there and you just have to get the Vikings there.....

Next week's game versus Chicago was supposed to be in Minn. I'm sure the Bears would have no objection to playing outdoors at Soldier Field...but the Packers might something to say about 9 homes for Chi (precedent Giants in '05 when they moved the opener versus the Saints to the Meadowlands..)
As I posted elsewhere, the Eagles benefit because they are schedule to play the Giants next Sunday. The longer it takes the Giants to play this week (?Tue) the less preparation and less rest for NY, benefiting Philly....

As you said, thankfully it didn't collapse during a game and no one was hurt....

Here is why Giants stadium instead of KC....who the eff is gonna buy the tickets? NFL is a business with a revenue model. You can't sell out KC stadium for Vikings vs Giants in 24 hours. You could sell out Giants stadium on the web in 30 mins. Viking get the bulk of the gate receipts like its a home game, even though most of the fans will be wearing Giants jerseys. And if the roof can't be fixed by next week same deal with the Bears game. You can sell out Solders field for a Vikings home game in Chicago vs the Bears. The Saints had to go thru this crap in 2005, wouldn't be the first time.

I would think more likely MN would want to play at the U of M Golden Gophers stadium but even that would have major issues mapping tickets to seats as I'm sure it is much smaller. I think they should just rip the roof off the Metrodome and play this one outside!

True on all points but how does gate receipts compare to television revenue, especially if as someone wrote, you get a first ever Tuesday night game?? You could sell that TV ad space and possibly recoup the lost gate receipts. My concern is how do you get the teams there and when do you play????
If you move the game, which you have to, the issue becomes either getting the Giants in ( if U of M or another Minnesota local) or getting the Vikings out....

funny comment I read in the profootballtalk ....

"Maybe the dome is just trying to fit in with the team. Everyone wants to feel like they are a part of something "

I think this is the least of the concerns now. The Minnesota airport is used to dealing with these storms. If the snow is not currently falling, everything will be up and running, from airports, to roads, to the ever important heartbeat of Minneapolis: the shopping malls.
