Okay I took some liberties with the title.

Jets coach Rex Ryan starts series of 'lunch dates' with QB Mark Sanchez | NJ.com

Today will start the first of at least two "lunch dates" Rex Ryan is having with his quarterback, Mark Sanchez.

Ryan said the two would meet shortly after his press conference and go over film together in a one-on-one setting to break down film, citing an increased familiarity with the Dolphins and Steelers' defenses.

"It's something I'm going to steal from Belichick like I steal everything else from him," Ryan joked. "It's going to be Mark and I. It's no big deal. Just go over a film or two and I can give some insight or whatever."

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. So I am cool with him stealing ideas from BB.

But get clue. BB is best known for saying absolutely nothing to the media. You announce every freaking thought that pops into your fat head.

I've gone against (Steelers defensive coordinator) **** LeBeau forever."

defense vs defense on the field ?

This sounds like last year where Jabba instituted the Red light Green light system of passing with Sanchize

And he should follow it up with some Revis Malt Liquor.

He's also gonna get the team to huddle together to start the 4th quarter and deliver a teary eyed, passionate speech...

...Only his speech is going to be about quarter pounders, and stopping the Hamburglar.

Maybe he should try stealing winning.

Is it me, or does this guy have a seriously unhealthy obsession with BB? It's so far beyond "in his head", it's a little creepy. BB is not just in Sexy Rexy's head, he's in his entire existence.

This Jets team has "train wreck waiting to happen" written all over it.

No he has a healthy obsession with BB.

If I was a head coach in the NFL, every time I had to make a decision I would ask myself three questions:

1) What would Bill Belichick do in this situation?
2) What would Don Shula do in this situation?
3) What would Vince Lombardi do in this situation?

Then go with the majority vote.

He was hired to beat BB. Everything else is irrelevant. All other games are simply practice til they meet again.

LOL...and well know how well THAT went!

I don't understand what film study with the QB has to do with lunch. But then again, Jabba Wrecks probably has several lunches throughout a day, so chances are most team activities for him involve lunch. In-between are the goddamn snacks.

He probably eats like a hobbit. 10 meals per day, one every other hour. :D

Nailed it. I was just going to say that for Rex, lunch comes after elevensies, which comes after morning snack, which comes after second breakfast...and so forth.

"We can just talk, like he's my son or something," Ryan said.

Asked if he's concerned about Sanchez's confidence after his three-interception nightmare in Monday night's 45-3 loss to the New England Patriots, Ryan cracked, "No, he's as messed up as I am. He's got plenty [of confidence]."

After pulling out dramatic wins over the Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns and Houston Texans, Sanchez has slipped the last two weeks. Against the Cincinnati Bengals and Patriots, he completed only 33 of 61 passes for 330 yards, with one touchdown and four interceptions -- a 47.8 passer rating.

Schottenheimer liked the idea.

"Rex's strongest suit is his people skills," he said. "He and Mark are great. Anything he can give him from that vantage point, I'm all for."

^That is where he's going wrong.

Do you think Belichick has people skills? Absolutely not.

Do you think Belichick/Brady have a father/son relation? No. More of a teacher/student relation (atleast when Brady was developing).

Rex is trying to be too chummy with his players. He'd rather be well-liked than to win games. Belichick was that kid in class studying every nuance, acing every test and preparing for the next year before it even started. Rex is that class clown goofing off throwing paper air planes in class. No matter how hard Ryan tries, he'll never be anything close to Belichick.

The bold is the only part I disagree with. BB has good people skills, but since the Media aren't people, he doesn't need to use those skills with them. :rocker:

I saw this on Townie News and couldn't stop laughing.........

FWIW, he did outcoach BB the first time the teams met this year.
