Serious question: Have you ever enjoyed a regular season, non-playoff clinching or playoff seeding clinching Pats win more than that one?

If so, which one?

I'm guessing that I'm too in the moment and not thinking about some pivotal, key, satisfying win from yesteryear that was even better than that one.

The 59-0 win over the Titans last year was pretty damned enjoyable and, I daresay, even more dominant than this one.

But who can really gin up the hate for the Titans? Jeff Fisher is one of those opposing coaches who I sort of like. I definitely respect him. And the rest of the team? Nondescript.

The Jets are a whole different story. To wit:

* their fans are douchey

* thier coach is an outrageous blowhard

* they talked smack all week

* they got utterly embarassed on MNF in front of the whole nation

* the game put the Pats in the driver's seat for the Number 1 seed in the AFC

* Just picture Fireman Ed's miserable face...."J-E-T-S SUCK SUCK SUCK"

* You KNOW that LDT, that unmitigated idiot, would have LOVED to walk off the field at Gillette with a win and sweep in his pocket and would have loved to smirk his arse off at the Foxboro fans

It's hard to imagine a set of facts more delicious than the ones surrounding this game.

I was there. Lots of Jets fans on site. Now the truth is that I didn't see anyone being jerky but you KNOW that if the Jets had won, they would have been insufferable.

So, yeah, that win was right up there with my favorites of all time.

It's really not that difficult to hate Fisher and Young and Adams and that awful organization.

But yeah, that was one of the more enjoyable regular season wins. I even ran around like an airplane at work the next day for a bit.

I can't remember a regular season that i enjoyed, all that was left of the rats was a greasy spot.

This was #3.

My two favorite regular season games were against the Bills in '02.

I have never found a fan of another team as much of an annoying douche as one of my coworkers who was a Patriots STH/Bledsoe fan (Teenuh and her love of Moss was not nearly as bad as this guy). He even wrote a letter to Kraft during the offseason between '01-'02 explaining why Belichick ought be fired for trading the greatest quarterback in the history of NFL to a division rival and keeping that bum from Michigan.

I don't think any sports moment has brought me greater joy than Ty Law picking off Bledsoe.

The Chargers game immediately following the Spygate media fiasco was pretty memorable.

The players embracing BB....and crushing the chargers really sparked a run of "us vs the world"

I enjoy the revenge games the best. For regular season hatchet games:

1. '10 vs. NYJ. I'm not sure this one will come down from the top in my lifetime.

2. '07 vs. SD. Those annoying little turds were hiding behind Spygate; LT. Everything. Awesome demolition.

3. '05 at PIT. Steelers fans will never admit the Patriots are the better team as long as they live, but at least Brady will always be in their nightmares. He went something like 15/15 in the fourth quarter for another comeback win.

4. '03 vs. BUF. 31-0 comes around again. What a turnaround; the Bills were celebrating all over the field in Week 1, and of course, the Patriots hate their coach.

5. '02 vs. PIT. Opener. See comments about irritating, whiny Steelers.

6. '07/10 vs. PIT. Both games featured the Patriots taking the Steelers to the woodshed; in '07 it was expected but still sweet; this year it was shocking and probably sweeter.

7. '08 at NYJ. Brady goes down. Jets fans celebrate. Cassell walks into the Meadowlands and humiliates them.

8. '10 vs. BAL. Revenge for the playoffs last year and huge confidence builder. 10-point fourth quarter deficit overcome.

9. '07 at DAL. Both teams come in 5-0, but only one is superhuman. Cowboys yap all week that they are better. Brady ends up on SI Cover.

10. '07 at BAL. Ray Lewis. Terrell Suggs. Bart Scott. Yap yap yap. Rex Ryan chokes by calling timeout before the play, giving the Pats an extra life. Bad idea.

'11 vs. NYG. This one is upcoming and I can't wait.

A great set of games. My favourite is Number 4 (but it was '03, wasn't it?)

Monday night was the best sex I have had in decades
Thanks Rex :rocker:

This might be my favorite in recent memory. That 2001 Dolphin game in Foxboro was a clinching game, but I loved it from the standpoint that the Pats came out with a really hard fought win over the Phins in a critical game. Back then, I probably hated the Phins more than any other AFCE team.

This game brought me about as much joy as a non clinching game can.

What was noticeable to me was the entire side looked like it was playing with attitude, purpose and were fighting for everything with intensity.

I hope the side can bring 80% of that sort of energy and application in the final four regular season games and who knows what can happen.

Monday Night Football against the Jets and the new Patriots looked like the old Patriots.. for the first time in a long time.

Off the top of my head I can't think of a more fun game meeting that description.

I don't typically do this, but I went over to GangGreen and Read there Pats Jets game thread.

OMG, it is one of the funniest reads I have ever seen.
Game Threads - TheGangGreen.com Message Board

They are so through the roof pumped, and as you read on it is a slow and agonizing death.

I'm not one to typically do that. There are definetely some good posters there. And being a Pats fan since the 70's I can empathize.

But there are some real dirtbags as well. One guy saying he was happy Vince's parents died when he was a kid. Another hoping Brady's kids would have birth defects or something.

To the posters at Gangreen's credit, they were good about calling those dirtbags out and even outright banned one of them.

I hope we don't have any posters here that say stuff like that. I have not noticed it, nut that doesn't mean I just didn't miss it.

Anyway, yeah, that was a game for the ages. Glad I recorded it.

I didn't see this until now but like i just posted in the other thread, this rivals the super bowls for me. Just in terms of the fact that i'm still riding high over it. I want a t-shirt that says 45-3.

im well aware that this is not a big deal in the grand scheme of the season, and theres a lot of ball to play to even get that crucial first week off, but I haven't enjoyed a regular season victory like this ever. Just the whole lead up to it. the look on rex's face...that cast of big mouth trash talking clowns....bart scott, LT, rex ryan, santonio holmes....just the whole crew. imagining that bus ride back to jersey makes me grin from ear to ear.

the only rival in recent memory to this game for me is beating the Chargers in the playoffs back in 06. remember how annoying their fans were? trolling the board, talking big like they couldn't lose.

even then.

the look on Rex Ryan's face in that presser is about as good a sports moment as we've had in patriot-land in a while.

hahahaha i find it funny that the two best regular season wins in the past five years came at the expense of LT. hahaha! f*ck him.

where is he? can we get a quote? were there any pics of his face on monday??

i really dont think any regular season win will ever be better than this, and conversely, i doubt if jets fans will in their lifetime experience a more crushing regular season loss.

Why this was such a great win.

1. It was brilliantly coached. Even watching it on the MNF broadcast it was obvious that the Patriots had the Jets off balance on almost every play. The offense wasn’t about Brady forcing the ball for the big play but maximizing the variations and bringing everyone into the equation. Likewise, the defense substituted constantly, used strange formations (and unexpected players in conventional formations).

2. Every player played to his potential. Sure, there were some missed tackles and the odd drop/miscommunication but nothing’s perfect and there were some great plays from the young players in particular (Gronk, Woodhead, Hernandez, Benny, McCourty) as well as the old faithfuls (Wes is b-a-c-k, Vince was awesome and scary and the O-line was A+).

3. Brady. He was dreadful against Cleveland. After that, he’s got better, and better … and better!

4. The team is on an upward trend. I’m not saying I’m not nervous about the Bears game (good team, on the road, tough weather, short week, let down – all possibilities) but, so long as the key guys stay healthy, these have been games to put in the bank.

5. It was against a talented, confident and aggressive team that didn’t just roll over.

6. It was against the Jets! :rocker:
