After countless hours of self-analysis of the game (and countless donuts). The oracle of wisdom, the brilliant mind trust that is the head coach of the New Jersey Jets has figured out what coaching mistake he has been making all season long and vows to correct it.

He a sure fire plan to make sure his team is never embarrassed by a 41 point blow out again.

He knows why the team lost and has a way to fix the problem.

That's right the Jets will no longer defer if they win the coin toss.

Every time this "running up the score" issue came up in 2007, my response was the same. If you want Belichick to call off the dogs, take all your key starters out of the game. If you want to keep in your ones, don't b&m when Belichick does the same. If it is the 4th quarter and you empty the bench, Belichick should (and likely will) do the same.

Running up the score? After the last pick the Pats ran BJGE 5 straight times to go 21 yards into the end zone. This was against the Jets starters. If you don't have enough pride to keep the Pats out of the end zone when they are just running little more than dive plays, running up the score is the least of your issues.

As for taking the ball when they win the toss, can Ryan possibly be this stupid? He made so many bad decisions on Monday, but deferring was actually one of the few he got right. Let Sanchez settle down before taking the field, let his defense get a shot at dictating field position, make adjustments at halftime and let his offense execute them to build/gain momentum in the 2nd half. Instead, lets give the ball to the offense right away, go no-huddle to really add some pressure, give my scattershot QB some sideline patterns in cold/windy weather...what could possibly go wrong?

It isn't a long road from lovable eccentric to erratic rogue to dangerous idiot...and that road takes you straight to the unemployment line.

If your going to talk **** all week leading up to a big game, say that your opponent should be concerned, you want to kick their coach's ass, that you are the better team, and then say your opponent was sarcastic when they praised you, well, you better expect to have the score run up on you if possible.

I get a kick out the whiners on the Jets complaining about the Pats running up the score.There have been several good comments from other posters,hope this is not redundant but:
1)This is not pop warner football,its the NFL.These athletes are paid very well to perform for 60 minutes,if you dont like the Pats to score,stop them.Simple.
2)Taking out the starters has been mentioned, agree with that 100 %.

3)The Jets have "shut down corners"?They looked like slouches to me....
4)Dont know if many noticed this,I was watching the game on my DVR today,they showed Ryan trying to rally the troops on the bench when they were down at least three scores,the LB Scott was about three feet from him,didnt appear to be listening,was looking kind of bored ...

Would it make the Jets feel better if the Patriots threw out their 2nd string players? I don't understand this sentiment. Isn't it more embarrassing when a team does that? It essentially says, "Hey, our first team is so much better than you that now we're just going to throw our second team on there to beat you." To me, that is more offensive. Take your beating and/or try to stop them, stop whining you dolts.

iam sure he does self evaluations but doesnt lay it out to the media. This is another way of saying that his defense isnt that good anymore. wish the reporter had some def players thoughts instead of braylon edwards who himself was hilarious

Not all are on board just yet, though. Braylon Edwards spoke out about the decision saying that, in a way, it places a certain pressure or burden on the offense to get things off to a faster start.

"I usually like to get the ball second, I like to kick off," Edwards said. "But if that's what Rex wants, that's what we're going to do. We'll take the ball and we'll try and get a spark on offense first and foremost.

When they went for it on 4th down, I knew someone would say BB was running up the score. But what should he have done? Kicked the easy FG for 3 points, or simply run it up the gut and give the Jets a chance to get the ball back without any added points? Its not Bills fault. Braylons an idiot anyway.

2) Throwing the ball too much because he believed the Pats CBs were suspect

3) Challenging the spot of the ball that resulted in 4th and less than a yard when everyone knows that challenging the spot almost never results in any significant change and is therefore a waste of a challenge.

4) Going for it when he lost the challenge, which just smacked of desperation.

5) Trying to kick a very long field goal in poor conditions instead of punting and pinning the Patriots. Again, desperation to score points and foolish gambling instead of playing smart and trusting his defense.

6) Oh yeah, how could I forget... running his fat mouth constantly. The perception is that he (and his team) are like the bullies on the playground that yap and threaten and then some quiet kid beats the he11 out of them. He made the mistake of giving the "no respect" card to the Patriots. Never do that.

Really, everything a team can do with a big 4th quarter lead can be interpreted as disrespectful. If you take a knee, you are inferring that the other team can't score enough points to be a threat, even if you just give them the ball. Any other strategy that leads to more points can be interpreted as running up the score. Playing 2nd stringers can be interpreted as demeaning. What's a coach to do?

Okay, this isn't really insightful or anything, I just haven't had much respect or admiration for this gang that hasn't won anything since the Namath days. Sure, it can happen, but not because you say it's happening on TV.

(Maybe Joe Willie really cursed them with "the guarantee..." Think about it. They get the idea that if you call your shot and make it, everybody talks about it for three decades until you get boozy and try to kiss Suzie. Therefore the key to making the shot is calling it... publicly.)

I totally agree. Even Sanchez played until the bitter end, so if you're going to keep trying to score and come back, we'll keep beating the crap out of you.

I still think it had way more to do with playing the full 60 minutes, not letting up the intensity like we had a few times in previous games. But seriously, how can the Jets of all people cry about it? So pathetic.
