Cowherd predicting Pats loss.....

says they will come out flat after such a high emotional win against the jests.....conversely he thinks the jests will be all fired up after being humiliated and blow out the dolphins. I don't agree with him.....but that is his opinion. I think the game in Chicago will be a tough one for us.....but we have faced BETTER QB's than Cutler and I think our D will get several picks on him.......Just depends on how well our O can move the ball on their defense...which I think everyone will agree has been playing incredibly tough......

PS...Cowherd also said something to the effect of BB encouraging McDaniels to give up multiple picks to move up and get Tebow....and he feels like since Tebow had to "be taught how to throw" in Denver.....that was another factor in McDaniels firing.......Of course he has no proof that BB spoke with McDaniels on this prior to the draft....Its just his "strong hunch"......what a putz.....

Re: Cowherd predicting Pats loss.....

I like Cowherd alot, but he's wrong ALOT. His predicition is the best news I've heard all day.

Re: Cowherd predicting Pats loss.....

While I disagree with Cowherd's prediction, I can understand his logic. Short week, having to play on the road against a good team - all this after a big win in a game that was against a rival for the division lead - a game that players were probably more emotionally up for than any other game this season. So to think the Pats could be in for an emotional letdown is not far fetched at all. It's not uncommon for an NFL team to let down a little after a big win, nor is it uncommon for a team that lost badly to come out fired up the next week. I just think that after the debacle in Cleveland the coaches and players won't let that happen again.

Now as far as Belichick suggesting to McDaniels that he trade up for Tebow, that does seem unlikely. However at least Cowherd admits that is just a hunch, rather than stating it as fact based on some anonymous unnamed source the way some other sports reporters do.

By the way, this is all Belichick had to say about McDaniels, in it's entirety:

Bill Belichick Conference Call - 12/7/2010

Q: What was your reaction to Josh McDaniels being fired? When did you find out and have you reached out to him?

BB: We keep any conversations between Josh and myself between us. But, yeah, of course I was disappointed to see that for Josh. Unfortunately, I know what that feels like. I was disappointed for him and his family, but at the same time, that's the third one of those we've seen this year, so it's certainly not uncommon. It's kind of the way it is in the NFL these days. Things can turn around in a hurry. Minnesota, one year they're playing in the NFC Championship and halfway through the next year, they've got a new coach. You see a lot of that in the National Football League these days. I'm not sure that I fully support all that, but those aren't my decisions. So, I don't know.

Q: Do you think there are a lot of unreasonable expectations on new coaches coming into a system and dealing with what they have to deal with?

BB: You'd have to ask them about that. I don't know. Right now, I'm just trying to get our team ready to play the Bears. That's a pretty big job. They're 9-3. We've got to go into Chicago. They're a real good football team. That's plenty for me and our team to think about this week.

Re: Cowherd predicting Pats loss.....

I'll have to get all Rodney Harrison on this and play the no respect card.

Put it on the bulletin board so the rookies/2nd year players know the games still go on? Actually this isn't an issue as the team (as a whole) seems to really be buying into BB and the Patriot way. They know the season ends when..Bellichick tells them it ends.

Re: Cowherd predicting Pats loss.....

Bears are 9-3 and playing at home. Patriots ARE coming off a huge emotional win with a short week to recover and prepare. I predict Pats finish at 13-3 but beat the AFC East teams to win the division on tiebreakers (theoretically, if the Jets win out.)

Really? Bulletin board? Oh no, some analyst predicted the Patriots would lose to a 9-3 team on the road!! How dare they disrespect us like this???

Re: Cowherd predicting Pats loss.....

If McDaniel took advice form a direct conference rival about anything he should be fired.

"Hey Josh, you know the McCourty's of the world come and go, but this Tebow guy is one of a kind."

I'll send him a copy of my Patriot Manifesto. Explaining to him why we never lose games.

Re: Cowherd predicting Pats loss.....

I stopped taking Cowherd seriously when in 2007 he said that he felt the Pats were more likely to fall apart under the pressure of the season than the Cowboys because the Pats were too high strung and the Cowboys were so loose. He basically said the Pats were those good students who are always polite and do the right thing who go to college and go wild and the Cowboys were the average students who kinda just roll with the flow.

Re: Cowherd predicting Pats loss.....

This is basically what I said in the other thread. I think we'll be favored in the game but this is probably the toughest game we have left on our slate in my eyes. Good team at home and we are coming off of a Monday night emotional game, now we have to hit the road with a shortened week.

Re: Cowherd predicting Pats loss.....

though to not the same degree, the bears have a jet-like airishness of fraud around them

I know i know another one of these threads..but after the last 4 weeks and who we have beat..i think it will be hard for another pats dominating win..do i think they will win? Yes but i really think this is going to be a 3-7 point win with a slow start on Sunday.

I do think its a distinct possibility, but i also think they will win in a very hard faught game.

BB's teams rise to the occasion in situations like this.

I'm always afraid of a let down. BUT, this team seems to be different from the start of the season. Chicago is playing great though, I expect a very tough game. The next two games scare the hell outta me. I think (hope) we can handle Buffalo and Miami.

Yes, but I don't care. That win on Monday Night was not just about the standings (although that was very important); it was about proving that you're a great team. That is important for a young, inexperienced group of guys, especially after they already lost to the Jets. I'm glad they went all-out, regardless of the possible energy-draining consequences.

Pats will almost certainly still win the division with a loss to Chicago if they still win out at home and knock off Buffalo.

I completely agree and the last 4 games have been like playoff games. Hard not to have a letdown. Also I can't forget about Cleveland.

No no letdown, if we were playing the Pnathers we could have a letdown, but we are playing a 9-3 team who is leading their division who could be in the SB. BB VW & TFB will impress this on the team.

A guy my wife works with is a Bears fan, and we have a friendly bet (i.e. loser buys the winner a 20 oz. of soda) about this Sunday's game. Monday we agreed the line was Pats by 3, on Tuesday morning he e-mailed me and said, "On second thought, can we make that Pats by 9?" :D

I told him I'd stay with 3, because I think the Pats spent a lot of emotion on that game, plus now they have a short week, plus they're on the road in an unfamiliar environment. Brady has never played at Soldier Field. In 2000 Bledsoe was still the starter, and in 2002 the game was played at the University of Illinois while Soldier was being renovated.

I agree with reflex, I still think the Pats will win but only by 3 or 7. Course that's what I thought would happen Monday night too. :bricks:
