Urlacher says Bears can handle Brady ... Hmm ...

Talk is Cheap, always has been always will be. And its been on sale the last couple of weeks. Must be a Christmas discount thing.

Well, the Ryan family has strong ties with the Bears, so maybe some of it rubbed off. But to be honest the Bears haven't seemed like big trash talkers. I've always liked them even though I don't care for Lovie Smith. I was hoping Smith would fail this season so Cowher could take over. It's been reported that he wants that job.

From what I read, it doesn't seem like he's trash-talking. He is actually pretty complimentary towards the end there.

If anything, the editor that chose the title for the piece is saying that the Bears will handle the Pats, Urlacher never really says anything to that extent. He says he "hopes for the same result" (referencing the win over Philadelphia).

Thank you for clearing things up.. Media always displays things in the manner that they want to see. If anything Urlacher is trying to instill confidence in his team thats facing the best team in the AFC.

Yes, Brady juked Urlacher - but im pretty sure we all had the same reaction.. Tom Brady can juke? :wha:

You have to admit even as a Bears fan that Brady juking Urlacher then jumping up and signaling first down like a maniac was pretty awesome.

We'll see. good game. I actually like the Bears as a team. They are fun and usually quiet from what i know. This game is going to be good, either way its a good game. hopefully we will win.

Question for you: Are Bears fans truly sold on Lovie? I don't think he's really that good a coach. Also, it's been reported that Cowher would like to coach the Bears but that might not happen now that Chicago appears headed for the playoffs. What are fans/media saying out there?

I actually read the article rather than your "sound byte" and he basically said nothing controversial. What's he supposed to say? They're going to slice us up? The Bears have a darn good defense, and I'll be surprised if the Pats score 30 on them.

More talk.

But, let's see how things go. I've had this game circled as "dangerous" since the schedule came out.

I like it that the Pats had those extra days of rest. And, while there was a lot of emotion BEFORE Monday, the Jets game itself wasn't one of those draining gut-wrenchers that come down to the last play and leave everybody reeling, so that should work in our favor as well.

I only read the first few lines. I went back and it the writer that sounds a little trashy not Urlacher. I like you don't think of the Bears as trash talkers, and like you i don't think Smith is that great of a coach.

Well to be truthful i was in my seat pissed off cause urlacher missed a sack and knew i would be hearing this from Pats fans for god knows how long.. its been 4 years and its still going on LOL, but other than that i am a huge Tom Brady fan.. I played as a QB in highschool and based everything i did off of him. I think he is the most complete QB in the league/to ever really play the game.. with weapons or not he makes plays and doesnt EVER depend on a single receiver. He spreads the ball out like stats/fantasy football never existed;and does what he has to do to win games.

Thank you - we are normally always under the radar, and are usually always the underdogs (which i have no problem over). I just hate it when we beat a team like the eagles and then their players kept saying they would of won with asante samuel.. etc.. but whatever like said earlier talk is cheap.

There has been controversy over it and I myself cannot speak for the entire bears community, but for me.. I am not going to say I am not 100% sold on Lovie, but i believe in him (he's the coach of a NOW playoff contender team.. to be honest i didnt think we were even going to make the playoffs this year) and wouldnt see how firing him now would make any sense.. a lot of talk happened after losses to seattle and the skins - but we have to remember this is a guy who took us to the superbowl 4 years ago. Also who are we to judge until the season is over. "Its not how you start its how you finish"

(If you are really curious heres a link from the forum i am from The Argument for Keeping Lovie Smith and Jerry Angelo.)

Thank you for taking the article in its entirty. Like i've said in the @Chicago thread.. this is going to be a GREAT game and the one i've been looking forward to alll season.

If they don't think they can handle us, what would be the point of showing up on Sunday?

I see no reason to get worked up over this. It's not like he's guaranteeing a win or anything

I remember either hearing or reading something about Holmgren wanting to replace Mangina with Cowher. That would surprise me given that Mangina seems to have turned things around a bit but who knows? The coach carousel has been so crazy this season.

I think Cowher played for the Browns. Just the same, it would be hard to think of him coaching twice against Pittsburgh every year. It would be like BB going to one of our division rivals.

Hey we like smart opposing fans over here. We're so used to Jets and Steeler fans (mostly morons) bashing Brady it's good to read that.

This is going to be a fun game for me because my fiance is from Chicago so all of my future in laws are Bears fans, hopefully the Pats win and I don't get a week of gloating over Christmas from all of them.

We have the same sort of situation regarding the Jets, and any team that Joey Porter is playing with. Whenever we beat them, it's the same old song and dance about injuries, referees, weather, whatever.

I also enjoy watching the Bears, and am happy for their success, except when playing against New England.

Here's to a great game and no injuries.

Wow, got a year or two?

Most Bears fans aren't too sold on Lovie, though he is the best we have had in 20 years. He is stoic. I think in the time he has been there, there are a grand total of 8 pics of him cracking a smile or frown.

He's been much better this year than any since losing the superbowl. He has decent coordinators and isn't trying to be one himself.

He sucks at challenges and clock management, but he is getting better this year.

Cowher is/was the hot replacement name, but doubt that happens now.

I'd say the bigger issue is the GM Jerry Angelo. He has been great drafting 4th round and after, he just sucks at the early rounds. He's had some nice picks early, but way more misses.

I remember thinking "Oh no, Bradys dead" when he left the pocket and had Urlacher staring him down. Didnt think Brady had it in him.

I'm guessing that Urlacher expected Brady to slide and when he didn't it surprised everyone.
