Adding 4-6 draft picks to this team

Respect to you fella, you tread where I dare not.

As for the initial post - adding a true RDE like Fairley or Watt, and another OLB like Bowers (dreaming, probably), Quinn (ditto) or Kerrigan would give this front 7 the feel of the Superbowl winning ones.

I would like to see a young OG Neal is about done. Light is nearing the end & a young backup center. Line man go quick in the draft. Receivers can be found later in the draft.

I'm still seeing the same needs/priorities:

DE
OLB
OG
RB
WR

From what I've heard, this draft is supposed to be nothing like the past two. I'm hearing that there's some talent at the top, but that it's a very thin draft. I'd love to see the Patriots package a few picks to move up, as well as moving some into the following year.

I agree that we need a couple of studs OL's early in the draft. I believe three is excessive. Continuity on the line is important. Personally, I think Light is far from the end. I expect him to be signed for a couple of more years.

The top 2 rounds is full of blue-chippers. I think there's some nice O-line prospects to be had later on. Might see us spend a few picks there.

Don't see the early OL talent, personally. I'd go defense - defense in round one and then look at moving things around.

I agree with your needs list, presuming that we re-sign Mankins and Light.

Good point. I should have made that explicit.

You have to temper that with the possible loss of free agents. Light and Mankins chief among them. I think the Pats need to reload at offensive line. And they will use the draft to do that. Adding another passrusher wouldn't hurt. I wonder if the Pats use one of their extra 1sts as a luxury pick for a WR or RB though? Ingram would look sick in this offense. One of the stud top WRs wouldn't hurt either.

Hey aabtec !!

Glad to see you back...Thanks for all you did and are doing for us....

Drop in at WCX and say hi to the guys on the AFC Beast...

Thanks..

One thing I have to say is that our military does not get the credit it deserves. These kids, and I do mean kids, have dealt with things that they should never have had to. They handle themselves with such professionalism and pride that it was an honor serving with them.

Next Memorial or Veterns Day go to your local VFW and thank a Vet.

I have seen children, women and pets all used as suicide bambers.

i think we move at least 2 of those 4 picks into next year, and then look in 2012 for a top OT

Let's get 2 top DE/OLB in the first 2 rounds and look at OL, RB in the lower ones. Saw Wendell get quite a few snaps last night and he looks fine as a backup guard to Mankins/Connolly

What we do need to do is get Mankins and Light sorted out. Having Bodden, Warren and the Ghost back is 3 pro-bowl starters

DEFENSE
As you say, we can have the same defense plus Ty Warren and Leigh Bodden. We would just need to re-sign G. Warren and Page (or McGowan). Even without these re-signs, the defense should be much better next year as the youngsters get more experience. We can add a DE, OLB, and/or corner. HOWEVER, the unit we have is quite adequate to be 10-2 and they will be better next year with Warren and Bodden back.

OFFENSE
WE NEED TO RE-SIGN MANKINS AND LIGHT. Sure we need to bring in a couple of youngsters (early round draftees) to compete or start at RG and C. But the much more serious need is the potential holes at LT and LG.

We'll add a running back or two and a wide receiver, but that's is just icing. We already have a great offense with what we have, expecially as Vollmer, Gronk and Hernandez continue to improve.

As usual, mgteich has his finger on the pulse of this team.....

OL seems to be the biggest question going forward at the completion of this year. Resigning Light and Mankins looks like the key to the off season to me also..... They do that and add a quality center/guard with a low pick things will look pretty good for next year. My .02 humbly submitted.....

Once they get the labor agreement all set ...they will resign Mankins. The Pats are very good at developing OL so... I see them picking maybe 1 or two late in the draft. They definitely need 1 good rushing OLB and maybe 1 good rushing DL-speedy one. RB is going to be a priority ...adding up to 2 players. I do expect the Pats to trade at least 2 picks into 2012.

:rocker:

The AFC Bloodletting ...has begun .....:D

Don't worry about the players holding out; how many of them are good at financial planning and have large war chests tucked away? 5% maybe. They need that paycheck.

If there is a rookie salary cap I could see the Patriots trading up! Now if Oakland would just revert to form...

As far as need... another CB would be great as would a OLB or guard or even left tackle. I suspect that RB and WR will be high on the list also.

I doubt we add a lot of rookies next year. We already have a lot of young players on the team, and BB likes to balance rookies/vets, so I see us getting some key role playing vets similar to us getting Crumpler, Warren, etc., and we'll trade a good amount of our draft picks for future drafts in the upcoming offseason.

i wouldn't be so sure... not if this draft class is as strong as some have been predicting. I have read a few articles on how alot of juniors e.t.c plan to come out due to the uncertainty of the rookie pay scale

Totally agree: BB will use all 4 of the first two rounds.... He will, of course, trade around some and strengthen his hand.......Oakland beating SD was very disappointing though... I was really hoping they would lose out to 5-11. Fingers crossed for 6-10!

Guys we have to owe something to the scouting staff. These guys hardly get any credit for what they do and by the looks of our recent drafts they do well.Drafting is everything in almost any team sport. These guys have found terrific, character guys and have made the future so bright.I would have never thought guys like Deadrick,Hernandez,McCourty, etc would have such an impact so early. Also the UDFA 's guys like Brown,Fletcher,Love,Guyton have been terrific.

Bill has done a terrific job with these guys and that shouldn't be overlooked but the scouting staff is partially responsible for this success we are having.
