Peter King had him ranked 4th in the MVP Race after Thanksgiving.

4. Mark Sanchez, QB, New York Jets. In the Jets' past three pulse-pounding wins, Sanchez has had the three most productive passing days of his career. A valuable player is one who plays great when the important games matter, and that's exactly what Sanchez is doing.

I always knew Peter King was no Will McDonough, but this is rediculous for Sanchez to ever be mentioned in the MVP race.

Even Rex referred to Sanchez as being surrounded by a super bowl caliber team (doesn't look that way after last night). Implying that Sanchez wasn't at that level. I know Rex says that to throw out a challenge to Sanchez, but it's also true, he is not a super bowl caliber qb.

At least King had one thing right, he had Brady Ranked #1.

He never should've been in the race. All he did was dig himself out of holes he helped create against bad teams. They've lost to the 3 best teams they have played, their only strong victory was Week 2 against us.

Why? Was He Ever In It?

i think he was at least co-mvp last nite for the pats

Anybody that knew what they were talking about didn't have him in the MVP race. For example, the NFL Network.

The fact that he was even being discussed is ridiculous. Look at his numbers since week 5, mediocre at best, horrible in a few games.

SANCHEZ?!?!! MVP1?!????!

He's not "officially" knocked out. I don't think there's an MVP committe which announces who is and who is not still in the running.

Sanchez has been playing pretty well.

Sanchez what race?:confused::confused:

Why should Sanchez ever have been in the MVP race? Because he plays like crap for 3 1/2 quarters and then has one or two good drives at the end to bail the Jets out of a game that they would have have won by 3 TDs if he didn't suck for most of the game? Sanchez is one of the most overrated QBs in the league.

BTW, all the talk about him cutting down on his mistakes is way overstated. He has had an INT in each of his last seven games or so. Teams weren't picking off his bad throws early and are now. That is the biggest difference from last year.

This. The great thing about sports is so many people say so many stupid things, and it's always, always funny to see guys blustering about total nonsense.

The same Peter King who wanted to put Sanchez in the doghouse after their week 1 game? I wish these homers would seriously look at the stats. Besides the Pats, the jets haven't won against a team greater then a 500 record all season. He didn't become MVP overnight, he was just playing subpar teams.

Sanchez is a joke!

NFL Stats: by Player Category

Sanchez is the 25th rated passer in the NFL.

Peter King's MVP selections are nothing more than knee-jerk reactions to who played well that week. Now he's calling MJD a MVP candidate.

You're right, Sanchez isn't officially knocked out...but I can say with assurity that he now was "Officially" never in the race. His stats basically suck...or are average at best. And average sucks...

What he said .................... :yeahthat:

If your passer rating is lower than Chad Henne's you never were in the race.
