This team is jelling alot better than I imagined. They young players are performing very well.

Now can you imagine 4-6 top quality draft picks to this team?

Look out Jets, last night was your version of Groundhog Day...

The opportunity to build on this base of young talent is exciting to think about but the CBO is such a dark cloud hanging over everything. A lockout and work stoppage will screw so much of this up and will eat into the time that guys like Belichick & Brady have left with the Patriots. Bob Kraft seemed optimistic two weeks ago but the NFLPA is steeling the players for a work stoppage.

I prefer to focus on the here and now. I suspect that every team is battling the tendency to look ahead at what could be a real mess.

There is NO WAY there should be an NFL Lockout...these Owners make waaay too much momey for something like that to happen. It's the Owners move on this one.

You watch Cunningham out there and you begin to think that the Patriots only need ONE OLB who can rush the passer in this draft. Unless Deaderick is the future starting DE rather than a depth/backup guy, they'll also need to start grooming a TY Warren replacement like Adrien Clayborn.

That's 2 of the 6 picks right there.

After that, I'm open to WR, OL, CB.

In fact, they should have an entire draft of just WR, CB and OL after filling their needs at OLB and DE.

Good to see the name "aabtec" again!

The play of the young guys this year means there is the opportunity to clearly go for quality over quantity next year. I'm sure their draft philosophy won't change one iota, but they have the option if there are players they fall in love with.

Position-wise, I don't know. OLB, DE, oline depending on who stays/retires.

Don't forget they are getting back a starting DE (Ty Warren) and CB (Leigh Bodden) back aswell next season.

Thank you :)

On to your post. BB will surely play some of these forward. I'm not sure we'd have room on the roster for 5-6 more picks. :rocker:

I doubt we add a lot of rookies next year. We already have a lot of young players on the team, and BB likes to balance rookies/vets, so I see us getting some key role playing vets similar to us getting Crumpler, Warren, etc., and we'll trade a good amount of our draft picks for future drafts in the upcoming offseason.

if there is football in 2011 i would hope BB can move one of those 6 picks in the first 3 rds into 2012.
as for the other picks
In Bill we trust, I'm good with whatever he does.

I think after this year the Patriots will have plenty of home-grown veterans.

It is remarkable how far this young team has come this season. I would hate to see a lockout next season, because the Patriot's are poised for 3-4 years of greatness. 6 picks in the first three rounds! Brilliant! I just hope that TB plays until he is 40+ like he says he wants to. He was simply amazing, as was the whole team. I thought we could be a wildcard this year. I can't believe I doubted BB, Brady and his team.

Have Brady indicated how many years he will keep playing ? How many years do you think Brady will continue for the Pats ?

Good to see you made it safely back, thought you were out of that business?

I received a special Love Letter from the Dept of the Navy/USMC requesting "the honor of my company" while they were hunting down some people.

Its not easy being as old as I am to be running with all of these Marines. I had alot of them ask me if would be ok? If I needed Depends...etc..When I picked off a couple of bad guys their attitude changed. Now the "youngins" watch out for "Grandpa"....

I still have ten fingers, ten toes...but missing 1 Kidney and 4 feet of small intestine..

Hey aabtec !!

Glad to see you back...Thanks for all you did and are doing for us....

Drop in at WCX and say hi to the guys on the AFC Beast...

He signed a 4 year extension so I'd say at least 4 years. Which is the same length of most rookie contracts!

Respect to you fella, you tread where I dare not.

As for the initial post - adding a true RDE like Fairley or Watt, and another OLB like Bowers (dreaming, probably), Quinn (ditto) or Kerrigan would give this front 7 the feel of the Superbowl winning ones.

DEFENSE
As you say, we can have the same defense plus Ty Warren and Leigh Bodden. We would just need to re-sign G. Warren and Page (or McGowan). Even without these re-signs, the defense should be much better next year as the youngsters get more experience. We can add a DE, OLB, and/or corner. HOWEVER, the unit we have is quite adequate to be 10-2 and they will be better next year with Warren and Bodden back.

OFFENSE
WE NEED TO RE-SIGN MANKINS AND LIGHT. Sure we need to bring in a couple of youngsters (early round draftees) to compete or start at RG and C. But the much more serious need is the potential holes at LT and LG.

We'll add a running back or two and a wide receiver, but that's is just icing. We already have a great offense with what we have, expecially as Vollmer, Gronk and Hernandez continue to improve.

Don't forget they are getting back a starting DE (Ty Warren) and CB (Leigh Bodden) back aswell next season.
