Maybe it's a bit childish, but Belichick needs to get back at Rex for the arrogant move of O'Connell being named captain for 2 of those games last year.

I would hope BB sends out Danny to midfield for the coin toss....it just has to happen.

Then again we may very well see Crable out there as well for the Jets

I think at least one coach is going to do it and it would be cool to see Danny stick it to his former team by representing his Patriots.

Nothing to do with the game but still......

Yes it's childish. Hopefully BB will always be above such buffoonery.

As BB loves to say, Don't Believe the Hype. None of that **** really has any effect on the game. Woody, and the rest of the team, are gonna bring it no matter what. BB doesn't need to play Rexy's games.

Exactly, keep that circus over there, we don't need it here.

Rex better be careful trotting Crable out there in the cold. His bones may crack.

Seriously though, I'm just waiting for the game. I've had enough hype....probably had enough by Wednesday to be honest.

I am hoping for NE to be 4th and goal with a comfortable lead late in the 4th quarter and for BB to put in Wilfork as half back for the TD run and score. Maybe go the 2 pt conversion.

Ala Fridge Perry. That would be hilarious and the ultimate FU.

I wouldn't be surprised if Danny asked for it for just one game though,he probably feels disrespected by them.

Probably won't happen but it would be great to see

I see it exactly opposite. If the Pats name Woodhead a captain, what that says is that Ryan and the Jets are in BB and the Pats heads; in other words it would be counter productive.

Do you really want BB and the Pats to start responding to Ryan with this type of an off the field, figurative response? There is a cliche about never arguing with an idiot because they will drag you down to their level and defeat you with experience, and that is somewhat applicable.

The difference is that Ryan is not an idiot, but whatever it is that he is, you don't want to engage him in making statements through the media. He's a master at manipulating the media and public perception - and that is one area that Belichick has proven that he falls short.

Don't do it, bad idea.

Crable isn't on the 53 man roster, he can't be captain.

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but don't the Patriots have the same captains for every game?

Rex doesn't have official captains, that's why he sends different guys every week...most teams have set captains though.

All I know is that Woodhead is dying for the chance to make the Jets pay on Monday night.

Captain on the Pats is a position of earned respect.

In theory, the players choose the captains. In practice, BB seems to have considerable influence.

Still, this would be a bad move for reasons outlined above.

Heard before that captains are chosen by a "secret vote", BB then takes the votes "counts" them in private and then announces the captains..;););)

Do you want to mess with this democratic process???

The people who cast the votes decide nothing . The people who count the votes decide everything .

Joseph Stalin.

I agree. I'd rather have Woody score a few TDs on the way to a big win than make a big deal over a coin flip. Yes, the Jets screwed up, and the best way to show it is having Woody help us beat them.

No need to make him a captain. Just carry him off the field after he runs for two TD and catches one more and wins game MVP honors.

No need to get involved with all this crap. The success Woodhead is having in contrast to the non-factor McKnight has been is already enough of a slap in the face of Jets fans.

I don't think BB will go for the cheap win, he'll go for the real one.

Not only will they make him captain, I heard BB bought him his own pony after he won the badminton tournament last week.

i understand why you want to do this.. but doing that would just tell the jets they are in the pats heads...

The pats just need to go out and be themselves and execute
