Ok fine. Let's counteract this B.S. by signing Troy Brown! :rocker:

How about this slip: "I get to be a Jet for the weekend." Clearly a cheap stunt. Trying to boost morale.

Coles is one of those guys that seemed to just lose it almost overnight. He's not that big a guy and didn't seem to be the same player after a couple of concussions a few years ago, which is completely understandable. I can't imagine him being a factor Monday night; he hasn't played any football since being cut in training camp.

If this is Rex Ryan once again trying to play mind games with the Pats he's really reaching here. I know the Pats pass defense is not the greatest in the world, but are they supposed to suddenly quake in their boots over a 30-something year old receiver who has been out of the NFL all year long? Coles had one meaningful game in a win over the Pats in his entire career, and that was in 2002.

Even if Cotchery can't go it would make more sense to put somebody on the field the few times they go with three receivers that has been practicing for a while, like Brad Smith. I'm sure there's a backup or two beyond that on special teams or the practice squad if they still need another WR. On top of that Coles is not going to play special teams, so I don't see this as anything more than some weird publicity stunt; why waste the roster spot though?

Yup, that is what Reiss also writes in that article. He also mentions how the Jets are down following Leonhard's injury.

I just don't want him bringing the same luck he had when Jesters with him won a couple of games at Foxboro.

He was once let go by Washington years ago who also signed Galloway this year and let him go as well and Washington never really had any good WRs in awhile to be the reason

Even the Bengals said no

He is done

All week I've been thinking this would be a very close game...after this move, the Patriots shouldn't even show up on Monday.

Coles couldn't catch a cold if he was left naked in Antartica during the dead of winter.

Tannenutz has obviously gone insane...

How many practices do you think he can get in between now and Monday? I hope he plays the whole game, boost our int totals.

A Jets fan with a sense of humor. I like it.

Alright admit it...you are really Rex Ryan himself..aren't you? :nono:

Good. He can show them that life is still good after defeat and retirement.

Good thing for Jets players to understand. :)

You've got to respect Ryan's leadership for THIS move. I personally dont see anything else he could do to counteract the emotional letdown. At least he isn't running around the lockerroom trying to get everyone all Pumped and Jacked...

This is about the Jets, not the Pats. It's an internal mind game. I just can't believe the loss of Leonhard is that big a deal.

But that's what this move is intended to do, isn't it?

Nobody could. It is far too cold in Antarctica for the rhinovirus to survive.

Seriously, when and where could Coles play? What situation would he be one of their best options on the field?

The article says that Coles is not expected to dress for the game. He's being brought in because he 'knows how to win in NE' For weeks now we've been reading how playing on the road is an advantage for these Jets. Now they feel the need to bring in a retired player just to convince the players that beating the Pats in NE is possible. This is too funny!

Where? He could line up anywhere in a FOUR wide set, that's where. How is it that none of you guys have thought of this? That was my immediate thought. Holmes, Edwards, Cochery, and Coles ALL lined up & running routes on a handful of plays. How's about's that idea, fellas?
Anyway, to have a player of Coles' background as #53 on the roster is a hella better than anyone else they had for an option. When ya get that low, you ain't looking for #53 to be an impact player in games. It's usually some special teams guy or someone 3rd on either line's depth chart.
Bringing Coles in is definitely the best use of that spot, even if he doesn't do anything.

(Watch this, now some goon with freaking 12 thousand posts is gonna list ridiculously obscure plays from like 10 years ago when some unknown guy who was #53 made a play to impact a Patriots' game. It's bound to happen. Hey, excuse me. I don't walk around my bedroom playing NFL coach wearing a freaking headset and holding a clipboard like some of these obsessive nutjobs do on this board.)
