Q: What did you do yesterday as coaches?

BB: Oh, we played golf - golf, bowling, a little badminton tournament, ate some watermelon, played cards.

Q: That sounds relaxing.

BB: Yeah, it was nice.

Q: Did you get ready for the Jets?

BB: Totally about the Jets, other than the pony rides and canoeing.

Reminds me of last year when a reported asked him where he keeps his SB Rings..

BB said, "In a box"

He does not get the adulation that Ryan gets, but he can be subtly funny..

Yeah -- so many stories talk about Rex Being Himself and not trying to be like anybody else and isn't that great blah blah blah. Meanwhile I'm sure many in the media wish BB were like Rex; well, not going to happen. And that's fine with me. BB being BB is a pretty dammed good thing.

are you kidding me? Rex's talk will never be as entertaining as BB's wit and burns of these reporters

I agree but the gem posted above is far from subtle. It's sheer awesomeness.

I'm not sure if most of the reporters are smart enough to understand BB's jokes.

I have never commented about Rex in those threads where Pats fans give him kudos for being funny. Maybe it's just not my cup of tea, but I get really uncomfortable when he talks. I feel embarrassed for him. He reminds me of a blowhard who is trying to be funny, thinks he's funny, but I just don't find the humor there. In that press conference where he talked about his supermodel wife, I was embarrassed for the guy. I don't find he's very funny at all.

I can't say that Belichick really exudes a sense of humor, but yeah, these quotes from him are a lot funnier than anything Rex has ever uttered.

Heh, pony rides. There's something just kind of funny thinking about BB and pony rides.

The driest in the NFL. BB's humor is in the Sahara Desert.

Do you think the "ponies" might be the Colts? :p

I loved after the Janet Jackson SB when he was asked on Leno (I believe) if he knew what had happened and his reply was, "No, I wasn't abreast of the situation." I put it in quotes, but that was more of a paraphrasing than a direct quote. I love BB's sense of humor.

Another nice one today, from Rapoport's blog:

I (Rapoport) had to ask about WR Santonio Holmes’ advice on how he wouldn’t put a rookie on him if he were the Patriots. Belichick smiled.

“We’ll do what we think is best, like we always do,” Belichick said. “I’m sure he’ll be a great coach someday.”

BostonHerald.com - Blogs: Rap Sheet Blog Archive Patriots coach Bill Belichick talks about the Jets losing Leonhard, Holmes’ advice, and his team

Sure hope Rex doesn't take that as, you know, sarcasm. :)

Rex is frat house funny. (No disrespect to frat guys). Wouldn't shock me if Rex farts for effect one of these days. :)

Can you tell what he is now?

Glad you said this, as I've also had that uncomfortable sense. Kind of like he's still trying to convince his high school peers to let him hang out with them.

And I agree with the other poster who suggested that some of the media may not be smart enough to get BB's dry jokes.
