Number One scoring offense in NFL....pretty amazing when you consider these stats:

Rank
#23 Offensive plays from scrimmage/game...60.4
#22 Pass attempts/game...32.5
#19 Rushing attempts/game...26.5
#28 Time of Possession...28:20
#13 Yds/game...349.2
#12 Passing yds/game...236.7
#16 Rushing yds/game...112.5

Middle of the pack stats...nothing impressive...no way these are numbers produced by the best offense in the NFL. How can it be?

Without boring you with Brady's top 5 stat dominance, consider these...

Rank
#2 INTs...5 (Brady 4)
#3 Sacks allowed...15
#3 QB hits...35
#1 Fumbles lost...1
#7 Penalties....60

#1 Passing TDs...23
#2 Rushing TDs...13
#1 TDs by Offense...36
#2 TDs by Spec teams/defense...5

#24 FGs made...14
#28 Punts...41

Through 11 games, this offense is as close to mistake free as any coach could dream of, and their scoring efficiency is unmatched.

Rank
#1 Yds/Point scored...11.48 (CHFF) (#17 Jets...15.7 yds/pt)
#1 Points/minute time of possession...1.08

It's a really great point and great job finding those stats. It really shows how its carrying this young defense. Do they have a # of possession stats anywhere? (excluding kneel-downs hopefully).

This offense has been something to behold. At times they just score at will.

I know this isn't true, but doesn't it feel at times like they score TD every time they touch the ball?

Plus, with Graham as the kicker, I think we are going to see more going for it on 4th down the usual.

That's not really, IMHO, a fair statement to make. Graham is a good, solid kicker, and the opponents field position has MUCH more to do with special teams tackling (or lack thereof) than his kicks.

Only Stats that matters:

Rank
#1 Number of wins....9 (3 way tie)
#30 Number of losses.... 2 (3 way tie)

Where are such detailed stats available?

Belichick doesn't agree:

I think they all have meaning; it’s just the priority of the stats. Wins is number one. Points is number two, because that correlates to winning.”

“And then you get to the things that correlate to scoring, which [are] red area, big plays, and third down becomes a part of that because of being able to sustain drives and that type of things,” Belichick said. “But if you make big plays, then third down becomes less important. You can offset any good numbers with bad numbers. You can offset bad numbers with good numbers, but in the end, it’s about getting points on the board and keeping them off. . . I’m not saying they’re not significant, they are, but the ones that correlate the highest to winning, you still have to consider them as the most important.”

so let's play along with the coach on this one. ;)

And this is why Tom Brady is your rightful 2010 NFL MVP, barring a subpar final stretch.

Leading the most efficient offense in football, with a relatively new cast of characters (Green-Ellis as #1 back, Woodhead, Branch, Tate, NO Moss, 3 new TEs) while your young D is growing up and still having the best record in the NFL = TRUE MVP performance.

However, in the voters' minds, I'm guessing this is what they're asking themselves: "How can I justify giving Peyton the award again?"

The coach would certainly agree that the stats I listed are the single most important stat and more important that all the stats the OP listed combined, yet the OP left them off.

Colts 0-2 versus the Patriots and Chargers. Seven interceptions thrown by Peyton Manning in the two aforementioned games. Peyton Manning should not even be considered in the top 5 of MVP voting this year.

But you claimed that the stats you listed are the only ones that matter.

That's a different take than what you're claiming here.

Again, let's play along with the coach on this one, and look to some of the other statistics, as well. You know, just for giggles.

Doubtful unless Rivers and Brady stumble down the stretch. Manning has lost to each of the MVP contenders, and has looked bad in the process.

I think writers are tending towards Vick as the MVP at this moment.

Is there a Run:pass ratio stat? The play selection seems to be pretty balanced. I think the Falcons would probably be #1 in that category.

I think it's great to see the defense and special teams contributing with turnovers and points. It's been a little while since those units contributed with points.

Rivers seems to be the favorite with Vick 2nd. I don't ever hear/see Brady get mentioned, which is sad.

He isn't top 5. Maybe not even top 10. But you know these MVP voters and their undying love of Peyton Manning. He didn't deserve either of his last 2 MVP awards and still got them. If he gets the Colts to the playoffs and has a big stat line, I could see them giving it to him.

I think this is the story of the Pats' season. Their offense has been both simultaneously good and a work in progress. Over the last 3 games the Pats’ offense has gelled as Brady has made the transition from Moss to the retro everyman unit. I think that their offense will continue to become more consistent from drive to drive, which will lead to higher yardage totals and allow them to more effectively control the clock and the flow of the game.

All I have to say is something I have said a few times in this forum.

I would love to see the complex variable equations that Bill and Ernie have formulated.

bill's biggest lie is his infamous all three phases of the game quote.

with complex analysis he sees the game in 4 dimensions (4 phases) and he sees how it looks with different variables under many conditions. Then him and ernie add that in part to the statistical analysis that everyone else is used to.
