Here's why:

Patriots 9-2
Jets 9-2
Ravens 8-3
Steelers 8-3

Patriots beat Ravens and Steelers
Jets lost to Ravens and need to play steelers

If patriots win, it almost guarantees a bye IMO

This game is for the AFC East and, for all intents and purposes, for the entire conference. Both teams need the game just as badly as the other. If the Jets lose to us and lose to the Steelers, they're finished.

This. It's after Thanksgiving, and the REAL season has begun. Now is the time to sell out for every game, rather than look down the pike towards the end of the season. One play at a time. One series at a time. One quarter at a time. One game at a time.

The Patriots need to win this game to square the head to head. To say the Jets need it more is a poor comment.

i think you missed the part where jets already beat the pats. if the pats lose then they are 2-2 in the div and the jets 4-0 and 0-2 head to head. Then you have to hope that the jets lose 2more games and the pats run the table. So this is a must must win for the pats. if the jets lose, they can still win the div if the pats lose a AFC/divisional game and the jets win one more than the pats.

This will be a huge win for whom ever wins, however it is not a must win for either team.

This game will more or less determine the division, but a wild card still gets you to the playoffs, and that is all that matters to me, get to the playoffs, get to the SB.

Not only that, anyone thinks that the Buffalo game is a gimme is mistaken.
Heck, Green Bay, Miami, Buffalo, Chicago, piece of cake, right?

Every game is a must win. I'd say the Patriots have been more impressive in the past few weeks than the Jets but the NFL doesn't reward style points, it rewards results.

Absolutely. No game is a cake walk in the NFL. Heck have a look at how the walls caved in after the first half of the Detroit game before the Patriots class shone through.

that too buffalo on the road . jets get to play buffalo at home. i know everyone thinks they are an avg team but that game could be crucial even if we beat the jets

I see your point, I just take a different perspective. Every game is important and there are only 16.

Rex did say the team goal is to have the most wins, so I am sure he agrees with you.:)

Insanity. This is the biggest regular season game BB has coached. No game has mattered SO much.

This one game more than anything else effects the division and homefield advantage. The fact we already lost to the Jets means we need this game. If we lose it we need a melt down from them for us to win it. No regular season game effects those 2 things so much. I've never been one to label a regular season game a must win. I realize the Patriots can get right back up to rebound to a 13-3 record but...

If you don't think this team doesn't have a better chance with home field advantage all I have to say is look at history. Under BB we've reached the super bowl every year we had homefield advantage. This game is huge. Not just bragging rights.Division titles and the #1 seed is on the line. It gets no bigger in the regular season.

This game is equally important for both teams. It pretty much is the difference between being the #1 seed or being the #5 seed and having to go on the road on Wild Card weekend

I dont get it. Then why wouldnt NE need this game more?

Why wouldnt NE want a week off and home field games? The odds favor teams that get a bye.

I think you mean having the bye would be nice, as we didn't have the #1 seed in 2001 or 2004 but still beat Pittsburgh at their place. But yes, HFA would be very, very nice.

It's a significant game, no doubt. And the loser's chances at the division will be very slim. But the Jets could also melt down too down the stretch, so you never know. I never expected them to lose 4 of their last 5 games in 2008, 3 to teams that didn't even make the play-offs.

I don't expect that to happen again though, but then again, I didn't expect it to happen in the first place. The point is that you just never know. We could win and then implode. They could win and then implode. Afterwards, we both have a road game in Chicago, another game against a play-off hopeful (Pittsburgh for the Jets, Green Bay for us), and divisional games against Miami and Buffalo, both of whom would love to spoil our seasons if possible.

It's just a long way of saying don't jump off the bridge if we lose. But I like our chances.

HFA wont be decided in this game nor the division although a pats loss makes it hard for them but a jets loss doesnt make it that hard on the jets. i think buff and miami wil have big say who wins the division

Just got to say this is awesome.

You know with the history, both at 9-2, division, bragging rights, etc. :singing:

That's pure bunk! Try selling that swamp land somewhere else!

Welcome to being a Patriot fan. Is this your first year or second?

I don't know how anyone could say the Jets need it more than the Pats - it is of major importance to both teams. The team that loses is in a major hole to winning the division. If the Pats lose, there is a really good chance they have to go to the West Coast for the wild card game. I don't want to see that at all. I always thought the Pats missed out on another Super Bowl a few years ago (2006?) because of that trip to San Diego. A long tiring trip plus the flu and the Pats just didn't have enough left in the tank to hold off the Colts in the AFC Championship game.
