I was surprised to learn about 2 stats.

Stoppin plays of 40+ yds or more - We the No 1 in the league.Allowed only 1
Stoppin plays of 20+ yds or more - some where in the last.

this is the problem with all the 3rd down and yards down the middle issue we are facing. seems like BB has decided that we will give help to CB and ILB deep in every game and 3rd downs. we are playing safeties deep enough for a 20 yrd play but but 40 yds. Also, no ILB how ever good is going to drop that much in the middle leaving a empty spot in the middle.

So, my question when or if he bring these safeties down on certain downs.
even though its painful to watch every 3rd and 8+ completed i see that at some point he will bring these high safeties down to defend the 1st down line.

question is when? I think the biggest issue we are facing is we are still rotating our other CB .You need solid tackling to let his happen. Even if someone breaks through you need confidence that your CB will tackle him after the catch.
I want to see if we can bring merriweather down as a free safety .The outside corners will have less help.

we miss bodden here more than anything .

That is true, and unless we see consistent results from the Arrrington/Butler side, BB is just going to leave both safeties high.

I do not want to knock either one of them because both of them are still learning the position- both of them are in their 2nd years and are still learning the ropes.

Exactly. I don't understand the bashing here of anyone who notes that the a defense that gave up 78 points in 3 weeks does, in fact, have quite a few things they need to work on

Yet at the same time we've seen the defense make big stops so we know they can do it... they just need more time.

The bottom line is that the team can't count on Brady to score 40 points every game.

Defence: A french man referring to his yard perimeter of his yard? ie: "You kids ged off defence!"

It's really a question of who you going to believe; me or your lying stats.

I was at the game on Thursday.

We had good pressure on Hill. If we had contained him in the pocket, in the first half, there was no problem.

Look at the second half. Lions have five meaningful drives that produced:

7 points/ 2 picks/ 135 total offense. They did a better job containing the pocket.

The Pittsurgh game got sloppy as well as Indy. However, if the defense doesn't step up early, you can't get big leads either.

The fact is this defense from a "situational football" perspective is much, much better than a stat/fantasy perpective.

Need work? Yes but what defense doesn't or do you prefer "shutdown" defense like Baltimore or Pittsburgh? Stat rackers that can't get it done against elite offenses?

"Trow me down da stairs my coat!"

"Trow de horse ovah de fence some hay!"

You get the idea, I'm sure....
