In which rounds? Thanks in advance.

They traded their #5 for Holmes and their #3 for Cromartie although that will likely end up as the #2 as it moves up based on playing time.

I think there's a swap of minor picks in the 7th (O'Connell and Rhodes trades) but at the end I think they will have their 1,3,4 in the first 5 rounds. Compared to our 1,1,2,2,3,3,4,5 of course :D

So basically, the Jets are again screwed as far as depth is concerned. I wish I had that list comparing the backups in the AFC East. The Jets had UDFAs as primary backups for like 3 positions.

Not sure about that, when cancelling out picks of ours and theirs that are equal we "only" have an extra 1,2,2,3,5 compared to them; oh, OK, screwed :rocker:

The Jets have picks in each round except for 2,7 (Cromartie, Kevin O'Connell).

Their big issue next year is going to be resigning Free Agents in 2011. All of these guys are UFA.

K Nick Folk
P Steve Weatherford
QB Kellen Clemens
FB Tony Richardson
WR Braylon Edwards
WR Santonio Holmes
WR/KR Brad Smith
T Wayne Hunter
C/G Robert Turner
DE Shaun Ellis
DE Trevor Pryce
ILB David Harris
ILB Lance Laury
CB Antonio Cromartie
CB Drew Coleman
SS James Ihedigbo
FS Brodney Pool
FS Eric Smith

I can see alot of these guys going elsewhere next year for more money because the Jets can't afford to pay for them. In 2011 the Jets have 36 players signed to contracts that equal about $110.5 Mil in Cap Money. So if a Salary Cap comes back they are in a world of hurt. Conversly the Pats have 45 players signed for next year at $98 Mil in Cap Money. So not only are we getting more draft picks we are set up financially to get Free Agents as well.

Sorry, the 5th rounder for Holmes was in the last draft not this upcoming one, my mistake.

Those 4 will be wanting a lot of money, and I can't see Pool or Smith taking much of a discount.

And if I'm the Pats, I'm looking at Brad Smith and thinking he can be another all purpose weapon in Foxboro.

The Jets have pushed all of their chips to the middle of the table and have gone all in on this season. If it works and they come away with the Lombardi (puke) then it was a good move. If it fails and they don't get the Lombardi, they are another year deep without a Super Bowl appearance and are now looking at a re-building period without the suitable draft picks to do it.

Never too familiar with this, thanks for clearing it up! But I'm just curious to see what hole the Rats are in come 2011. Might be a big one!

I've never felt much hatred towards the Jets until this year. With the addition of Rex Ryan, they've become a team full of talkers-foolish ones at that.

For example, Revis' postgame interview. They asked him how he felt being called an average cornerback by TO and he said he felt disrespected. They told him that he started it by calling TO a slouch, and it took him a second to realize his mistake, so he backpedaled. He then stated that TO and Moss were great receivers. Deion said that's all they (Moss/TO) wanted to hear, Revis then said that he couldn't call them that. The analysts replied-"you just did!".

What a dummy....

So basically, the Jets are again screwed as far as depth is concerned. I wish I had that list comparing the backups in the AFC East. The Jets had UDFAs as primary backups for like 3 positions.

Meanwhile, for the Pats:
- both primary RBs were UDFA
- our leading receiver was a UDFA
- our starting RG was a UDFA (whether it's Connolly OR Neal)
- our primary backup OT, LeVoir was UDFA
- our #2 QB was UDFA
- our primary backup center (Wendell) was UDFA
- our current starting RCB (Arrington) was UDFA (Bodden was as well)
- our primary coverage ILBs (Guyton and Fletcher) were UDFA
- our primary interior pass rusher and sack leader, Wright, was UDFA
- our #4 OLB (Woods) was UDFA

The Pats have 18 UDFAs on the 53-man, pretty much all of whom see regular PT and another five on IR, including Bodden and McGowan.

First of all, That list isn't entirely correct. Players with 4 years of service or less would only be UFA IF the new CBA states them as such. Otherwise, they would be RFA under the current rules.

So that puts guys like Harris, Ihedigbo, and Folk in Limbo. Robert Turner will be an RFA regardless of which set of rules unless the Jets decide to not tender him.

The only must sign out of that list, in all honesty, is David Harris. They may re-sign Holmes and B. Smith. Beyond that, I don't see any MUST sign players there. And since no one in the league will be signing players until the new CBA is worked out, the Jets can work behind the scenes to keep those players in house.

I just did a count on Miguel's page and the Pats do not have 45 players signed for next year. The Pats only have 41 players under contract for next season. For whatever reason, Miguel's page isn't fully updated as he still has Maroney, Crable, McKenzie, and Wheatley listed as being part of the Pats. He also has Steve Maneri and Pierre Woods listed twice. Now, they do have 9 players who will be ERFA unless the rules change. They also have 1 player who will be an RFA, providing the rules don't change. And they have 3 players (Shun White, Eric Kettani, and Tyree Barnes) who are on the Military Reserve List and will be eligible for contracts as well.

And let's not pretend like the Pats don't have some big names who are going to be free agents. Matt Light. BenJarvus Green-Ellis, and Logan Mankins. Some others who have proven to be very effective include Pierre Woods, Jarrod Page, Tracy White, and Kevin Faulk.

While the Pats are in a slightly better position than the Jets, lets not pretend like it's night and day when it's not.

Hmmm - I count 45 including the guys on IR (and potential RFAs/ERFAs)

I did use Miguel's page as a start to get my list The reason Maneri and Woods are listed twice is because they have been on the team more than once this year and each instance counts for Cap purposes. That's also why you see Moss, Maroney etc still on there because they still count against the cap. His list is a little bit out of date though.

My list does assume a return to the 4 years for RFA status. This year is the only year it reverted to 6 years and that does not carry going forward.

It also does not count Light, BJGE, or Mankins and Woods actually is signed next year because he signed a 2 year deal a few weeks ago.

I don't have access to it right now but I will post it later and include ERFA/RFA at the bottom.

You can't really blame them. They haven't been to the Super Bowl since the 68 season. Hell, the Beatles were still together then. As much as we talk about how much we hate them. I'm sure theirs towards us is probably more.

Rex's personality is going to hurt them in the long run. He tells the players, the press, everyone that his guys are the best. Now, they are going to walk into Tannenbaum's office and ask to be paid like the best. Heck, coach said I'm the best. Why won't you pay me?
If we can beat them this year, they are going to be severly challenged to hang with us for the next four years(Brady's contract).

I've been following Miguel's cap pages for years and understand them better than most.

When a player is cut/traded, the only thing that is left against the cap is the remaining signing bonus amortization. In the past, Miguel has typically moved those players to the bottom as dead money. Typically, Miguel has noted that the players were cut/traded. He's done that for many of the players on the page. He had not done so for Crable, Maneri, Woods, Maroney, Wheatley, or McKenzie.

Also, if you looked closely, Maneri is on there 3 times. Twice in the roster section and once in the PS section. Maneri doesn't count 3 times. Just like Woods doesn't count twice since the first time he was cut, he was only on the RFA tender that he signed, with no signing bonus.

It should be 41. I missed Ty Warren and Leigh Bodden previously (and I edited my previous post accordingly).

Brady, Koppen, Mayo, Wilfork, Welker, Kaczur, TBC, Sanders, Wright, Neal, Gostkowski, Crumpler, Meriweather, Chung, McCourtey, Butler, Brace, Guyton, Ninkovich, Connolly, Gronkowski, LeVoir, Vollmer, Cunningham, Wilhite, Spikes, Slater, Tate, Price, Hernandez, Pryor, Edelman, Hoyer, Mesko, Deaderick, Fletcher, Love, Woods, Woodhead, Bodden, T. Warren.

ERFA: Arrington, Barrett, Brown, Lockett, Ohrnberger, Wendell, Richard, Weston

Players who are on the practice squad have their contracts terminated at the end of the year and are free agents unless they are given a futures contract.

PS: Maneri, Turner, L. Washington, T. Carter, Ro. Ventrone, Austin, C. Butler, J. Crompton

The 4 other players I have are Deion Branch, Sergio Brown, Kade Weston, and Rich Ohrnberger.

Branch lowered his 2011 salary to match what Welker was making.

Brown was signed to a 4 year deal off the practice squad.

Weston signed a 4 year deal and he went on IR, his salary was just reduced this year and he doesn't get a season accrued for next year for salary purposes so he will still be at $320,000.

Ohrnberger signed an undisclosed deal off the PS on Sept 29th but was originally signed through 2012. So I think it's safe to assume it will be for a similar length due to the Logan Mankins uncertainty. It was actually smart of them to release him and then sign him back because all his Signing Bonus money ($338,000) counts against 2010.

Here's my list of FA
RFA - Wendell, BJGE, Arrington, Barrett
ERFA - Lockett, Richard
FA - Light, Mankins, Taylor, Morris, Faulk, G. Warren, Ojinnaka, White, Page, McGowan

Fair enough. Thanks for the corrections on Branch and Brown.

As for Weston. He was waived/injured. Yes, he ended up on the Pats IR list because he cleared waivers, but I believe that his contract was shortened to a 1 year deal as a result. But I am not 100%.

As for Ohrnberger, I wouldn't assume anything.

Why do you have Wendell, Arrington and Barrett as RFA and not ERFA? They are all only 2nd year players.. They would need to have 3 accrued seasons to be RFA..
