1. Jerod Mayo, NE 132
2. Chad Greenway, MIN 99
3. Stephen Tulloch, TEN 96
4. London Fletcher, WSH 92
5. Dhani Jones, CIN 92
That's great and everything, but the statistic is a little misleading. Only six teams played Thursday. His lead will shrink significantly after Sunday/Monday.
Probably shrink by 10? That's still a remarkable lead.

I was figuring by about 12ish, but in the same ballpark. I'm not bashing Mayo, I love the guy. I was just pointing out a problem with that particular stat. If he stays healthy, he should easily have the most tackles by the end of the season.
Tackles are good, plays end w/a tackle. But might his total be a bit inflated due to:
1) The Pats inability to get off the field on 3rd down, giving the opponent more plays, generating more tackles?
2) A deficiency in pass coverage, meaning while Mayo's making tackles he ISN'T a) batting down passes and/or making interceptions, and b) that deficiency in coverage leads opposing QBs to target that soft middle of the field for completions, which then require tackles?
So, you're definitely a "The glass is half empty." kind of guy, huh?
No, not at all. I like Mayo as a player. But the tackles stat is a bit misleading.
Misleading? It is what it is, he leads the NFL in tackles.
Patrick Willis was the leading tackler twice in the last 3 years and he was being touted as the best ILB in the game. What Mayo is doing this year is phenomenal.
Mayo is cleaning up for Arrington's missed tackles.
On a serious note, he is all over the field, which is awesome.

You think you've seen everything then you see Patriots fans complaining about Jerod Mayo making tackles. Some of you are pathetic.
He's doing his fricken job.
Would that be the same as saying Tom Brady is overrated because he throws touchdowns and has a low TD/INT ratio? They're not complaining about it. They're calling him overrated.
There's a difference.

We'll both agree that our players are overrated and it's just the system that puts them in positions to identify a play then execute it.Probably. I keep hearing that Brady guy is overrated too. But somehow he just keeps winning! Don't forget that he's 'only a game manager' and 'the system' is what makes him good. LOL.
