Such a great season so far. Much has been discussed about our young defense and their emergence as a mentally tough, bend but don't break squad.

On the other side of the ball, I for one did not expect our offense to be capable of scoring so much, leading the league, and carrying this team. I am actually unsure as to how they are doing it. Brady is playing really well, the new tight ends are better than advertised, and remarkably we have a potent running game w bjge and woody.

We have given up 3rd most points in the league yet have the best record!?

Anyone else taken by surprise?

I think that going into the season most people felt that the offensive talent was close to 2007's, except for a drop-off due to age and/or injury.

In fact, almost all the uncertainties on offense have worked out well except for RB health and Moss -- and Woodhead/Ellis/Branch have made up pretty well for those.

From here on out, skill position depth is pretty shaky -- we could only really afford to lose one of Welker/Branch/Hernandez/Gronk/Crumpler, and neither of BJGE or Woodhead. But if injury luck holds from here, we're in good shape.

I knew that it was just a matter of time before our offense started rolling again post-Moss. There was a small adjustment period but in the past 3 games, our offense has looked as good as ever aside from the first half of 2007.

You know it's funny how people always say how much our offense "cooled down" in the second half of 2007, they were still amazing in the second half with scores of...(from highest to lowest)

Oh yeah it was still awesome, but in the first half it was like a machine

Glad the d was able to get it together in the 2nd half. In the 1st half they made Shaun Hill look like Michael Vick :ugh:

That's pretty much it. This offense is rolling right now because Brady is absolutely playing out of his mind. With the exception of 2007, Brady is playing the best football of any stretch in his career.

Having his binky Branch back ,along with all the other offensive weapons, helps. Mankins solidifies the OL and a decent running game gives Tom plenty of options. If O'Brien can remain unpedictable with his playcalling, there is no limit what this offense is capable of..........I'd rather see long time consuming drives tho...because this defense scares the bejeezus outta me

The defense was brutal today. No question about that. But people should also remember that, even with their back-up QB, Detroit still has a pretty talented offense. They've also been giving everyone problems this year. They took our very own division rivals and competition for the best record in the league down to the wire a few weeks ago.

offense is just playing like a jauggernaut, the defense is getting better, today they only gave up 7 in the second half.....

Yes, I am really surprised, especially after the loss of Moss. At the beginning of the year we had no idea how Welker would be, and then shortly thereafter we had the abrupt loss of Moss. Then (or I guess even before we lost Moss) we lost Faulk for the year. How the heck have our moves (going with BJGE and Woodhead, bringing back Branch) worked?! BB and Brady are doing it again. Taking what looks like lemons and churning out awesome lemonade. Go Pats!!

It isn't a suprise we are putting up 30 a game, its a suprise that the NYJ are somehow on our tail.

What surprising for me is how well Branch, Welker, Crumpler, Gronk, Hernandez, Green-Ellis and Woodhead have worked together with Brady.

I think some people need to seriously re-assess their position of O'Brien and his playcalling. The offense has been mightily impressive given Moss was traded away, Faulk went down, Taylor hasn't seen the field and it's a new outfit.

The defense, well they are still a work in progress but Bodden and McCourty could be something special for us next season. They both shut down opponents and both create turnovers.

At 9-2 this side has surpassed my wildest expectations. Despite a tough December coming up I'm starting to believe this side might be capable of going.... alllllll... theeeee...... wayyyyyyyyyy.

Eh, not so surprised... we traded for a more productive deep threat guy. :D

Completely different team without Moss in all seriousness - but it's fun watching now that the game is "spread" not "deep+whatever's underneath." There's a run game, there are TEs involved, there are all these roleplayers - your woodheads, your Law Firm, your recevier-du-jour. Very 2001-2004 feel, in that sense.

And now I await the kickoff of Bengals-Jets, with the Pats (temporarily) atop the whole conference - hoping they're there when the Bengals & Jets are done.

J E S T Jest Jest Jest!

I probably read too much into all things BB - but I loved pretending there were all these diabolical subtexts to his remarks...

"Right now we're just going to spend some time with our families, relax a little, etc. etc. etc."

Okay very bland stuff but I enjoy believing BB was doing his hypnotoad imitation, beaming a message to the Jets - we won ours, it's on you, we're relaxing, you can still blow it...

This is exactly what I was thinking when I read it.
