Quick look at the upcoming game vs Lions

Initial thoughts anyone? I just hope they don't have a let down after two tough weeks both resulting in great wins.

Re: Quick look at the upcoming game vs Lions

I don't think there will be a letdown. It'll be a national game and we seem to do well in those.

Suh will be tough to contain. And hopefully McCourty will be on Calvin Johnson.

Re: Quick look at the upcoming game vs Lions

In before someone claims this is a trap game.

And for whatever reason it seems like the Lions are in a bit of midseason slump. They were losing "better" at the beginning of the season.

Agh, you beat me to this thread :D

I think the Pats will have some early trouble, but in the end they should pull out the victory.

Now on to the Jest :D

Pats dont change their corners to where the offense's WRs line up. McCourty usually occupies the left side (facing the QB) and either Arrington/Butler on the right. Butler stepped up today, when Arrington had to come out. It will be interesting to see if he gets more playing time Thursday

Re: Quick look at the upcoming game vs Lions

We learned our lesson in the Cleveland game. We won't underestimate a clearly inferior opponent again. With the Lions having their starting QB out for the season they are ripe for the taking.

Another Patriots football game is just around the corner. The lions are a good team. They don't have a great record but they are a tough team with some good players. I don't see this as any kind of "trap game", but it definitely isn't a game to dismiss. The two players that we need to be concerned with are Calvin Johnson and Ndamakong Suh. If we can keep them quiet we should win this game.

EDIT: oops just noticed there's a thread on the game. Mods merge it.

Ndamukong Suh's really good.

Haha, I changed the title of yah thread buddy.:D

I hope there's no letdown either. This is a game they should win. But so was the Browns game. I'm just wondering if having less days to prepare will hurt them. Then again we are playing the Lions. So hopefully the Pats can win with a B game. It would be nice to have a comfortable win instead of this week's nailbiter vs the Colts but I'll always take a W no matter how uncomfortably close it got.

Re: Quick look at the upcoming game vs Lions

Not a big fan of short weeks.

However, a very big positive IMHO is all the extra time the Pats will have to prepare for the Jets.

Lions have the same ammount of days to prepare as well so that should be the same..i think both teams will studder in the first half

I know, but after watching Butler struggle against a bigger receiver like Braylon Edwards, was hoping we might at least consider it going against a bigger and better guy in Johnson.

I think Butler is better than Arrington, but that might be a really bad match-up for him.

I expect a lot out of the running game. Suh can be abused with inside trap plays.

Both Butler and Arrington are similar in size, both struggle against bigger guys. Arrington got toasted on the TD from Wayne today. Earlier in the year it seemed that Butler was in the right position, but just couldnt make the play. Hopefully he has learned and will now finish off plays, I do agree that Butler has more talent than Arrington.

Re: Quick look at the upcoming game vs Lions

I don't like the short week + the travel. We should win this game of course, but I hope it isn't a trap game like the Cle Game coming before the Steelers & Colts.

Re: Quick look at the upcoming game vs Lions

I too fear this game as a trap game. However, I think the Cleveland game was a wake up call for this team. They know they cannot just show up and expect to win after what happened to them in Cleveland.

Lions have the same short week too. I dont think it will be a trap game. National TV game. BB will have them ready
